Lumix camera remote control app for Bruce firmware controlled devices. It's a simple, yet robust, app (tested on T-Embed)
No more fumbling with that stupid app. It makes everything that bit easier
It now also offers quick thumbnail preview, soon (hopefully) it'll also allow for full downloads.
It's simple - when first run it'll create it's directories and ask for a file from previous install
Don't worry, it's not neccessary. After that you can decide if you want to connect directly or over a local wireless areal network. Next you'll be asked for SSID and password to selected network and after the connection gets established you'll have to provide the camera IP (if direct it's usually 192.168.54.1 but you can also enter your own. All IPs are saved to the coonf file. So are SSIDs, passwords and MAC addresses. And you'll be asked for one. I'm not entirely sure if it's completely neccessary but it won't hurt. You can find IP and MAC address in your camera settings. Or using nmap. Direct connection credentials are stored in separate lines so you can quickly connect to your camera after first successfull connection. When you get past all that tedious stuff you'll be greeted by the 'gorgeous' GUI. When in rec mode you can capture stills and record videos. At the bottom you'll find a bunch of more-or-less-useful information about the status of your camera. In this mode you only have to press 'escape' key on your device. There's also a third option in there - 'Playback'. If you enter there you'll have to wait a couple seconds as the device is grabbing and processing a bunch of xml, 50 last images-worth of it. It also parses all the data so it's useful. The second it's done you'll be greeted by your very last medium. Yes, it also displays thumbnails of videos. In this mode the navigation scheme is a bit different. 'Previos/next' scrolls through all 50 thumbnails. It caches them all. To exit you have to press 'escape' and then confirm. If you press 'select' on any image you'll be presented with a list of files that were parsed. Those should be the proper ones but for now it's very spotty, erring on the side of not working.
Run, Select direct/wan, fill dialogs with SSID, pass, IP and MAC, see menu. Two modes: rec and playbck. In rec mode: prev/next to move, select to select, esc to quit In play mode: prev/next to scroll around the thumbnails, select to 'download' (see issues), esc and confirm to exit. It caches images, gets list of 50 latest for you to scroll. Credentials and IPs/MACs saved to conf file.
Automatic connection attempts at the start could use a bit more polish, I know. It sometimes does something weird. Downloading still doesn't work well. Cached images need a way of being purged.
My sample size of one doesn't allow for definitive proof but my direct connection password is... my MAC address but prefixed with a letter a. That's it. You can change the SSID but not password. Go figure.
