AUTOBLEEM-15: the USB dongle firmware AutoBleem 1.0 shipped is back in the payload, with drivers for it, and Bluetooth is now built as modules.

Firmware

  • board/psc/firmware-1.0/ is a second rootfs overlay in both defconfigs. It carries the 1.0 files that linux-firmware lacks:
    • 114 Broadcom BT .hcd files;
    • mediatek/mt7610u.bin, mt7662u.bin and mt7662u_rom_patch.bin;
    • rtlwifi/rtl8822bufw.bin.
  • rtl_bt/* and htc_7010.fw come from Buildroot's linux-firmware (RTL_87XX_BT, RTL_88XX_BT, ATHEROS_7010).
  • The PCI/PCIe blobs are left out, because the console has no PCI.
  • None of these paths exist on the stock console root, so overlay.py keeps them all.

Kernel (sources/psc-kernel → feature/autobleem-15, 365a9b9f)

  • btusb gains the Edimax EW-7611ULB id (7392:a611).
  • The rtl8723bu driver is vendored as CONFIG_RTL8723BU=m. It is built without concurrent mode, so each adapter gets one wlan interface instead of a second idle one with its own DHCP lease.
  • linux-common.fragment builds CONFIG_BT_HCIBTUSB=m and CONFIG_BT_RTL=m. A newer btusb/btrtl can then ship as a .ko instead of a new boot.img.

Out-of-tree drivers

  • sources/rtl88x2bu is a new submodule (RinCat's 88x2bu, b4e4c1b).
  • build-kernel.sh builds each dir listed in AB_KERNEL_EXT_MODULES against the kernel and installs it into lib/modules/4.4.22/extra. It then runs depmod again, and the GOT-relocation check covers these modules too.

Tested on a PSC with a hand-assembled payload holding the same kernel, modules and firmware:

  • The Edimax loads rtl_bt/rtl8723b_fw.bin (LMP subversion 0x8723 → 0x9f73).
  • A DS4 pairs over it.
  • Its Wi-Fi joins and passes traffic.
  • btusb, btrtl and 8723bu load from modules.alias.

Not tested on the device:

  • 88x2bu: it builds and has the right vermagic, but no RTL8822BU dongle was at hand.
  • MT7610U/MT7612U: the firmware is in, but there is no driver yet (mt76 backport).

…AUTOBLEEM-15)

- board/psc/firmware-1.0: a second rootfs overlay with the 1.0 payload's USB firmware that linux-firmware
  lacks (114 Broadcom BT .hcd, MT7610U/MT7612U, RTL8822BU); rtl_bt (RTL_87XX_BT, RTL_88XX_BT) and the AR7010
  firmware come from Buildroot's linux-firmware in both defconfigs. The PCI/PCIe blobs stay out.
- psc-kernel: the Edimax 7392:a611 btusb id and the vendored rtl8723bu (CONFIG_RTL8723BU=m), built without
  concurrent mode (one wlan interface per adapter).
- btusb and btrtl as modules (linux-common.fragment): a newer Bluetooth driver is a .ko, not a boot.img.
- sources/rtl88x2bu (RinCat's 88x2bu) as a submodule; build-kernel.sh builds every AB_KERNEL_EXT_MODULES
  dir against the kernel into lib/modules/<ver>/extra and runs depmod again.

Tested by hand on a PSC with the same kernel, modules and firmware: the Edimax EW-7611ULB loads
rtl_bt/rtl8723b_fw.bin, a DS4 pairs over it, its Wi-Fi joins.
