feat(api): add a configurable capture retry limit - #684
SNEP-394 retries a failed capture in place, bounded by a limit that is configurable cluster-wide and per capture. This adds the setting and its resolution. Nothing retries yet — this is the surface the retry loop reads.
PodSnapshot.spec.checkpointRetryLimit carries the per-capture value. The operator copies it onto the PodSnapshotContent, which is the work order the agent actually reads.
checkpoint.retryLimit in the agent config is the cluster default, rendered by the chart.
ResolveRetryLimit picks between them: the request wins when it has a value, absent falls back to the cluster default.
Both are pointers so absent is distinct from an explicit 0: 0 asks for no retry, absent expresses no preference. The cluster default is 0, so retry is opt-in and an upgrade changes no existing capture's behaviour.
The name was chosen to pair with #247's restore-side setting (restore.retryLimit), per the SNEP.
ResolveRetryLimit is table-tested for precedence, for absent versus explicit zero on both sides, and the config rejects a negative limit.
An operator test asserts the limit reaches the work order, and that absent stays absent — the agent reads the content, so a value that is not copied is a value that does nothing.
CRDs regenerated with make generate; both copies in sync. make linux-test, operator and api suites pass; golangci-lint clean across all three modules.
Does this PR introduce an API change?
PodSnapshot.spec.checkpointRetryLimit sets how many times a failed capture may be retried in place, and the agent's checkpoint.retryLimit sets the cluster-wide default. Both default to no retries, so existing captures are unaffected.

Walkthrough
The change adds an optional checkpoint retry limit to PodSnapshot and SnapshotJob APIs. SnapshotJob construction copies the configured value to generated PodSnapshots. Agent configuration resolves request values against the configured cluster default, which Helm chart settings expose.
PodSnapshotSpec and the SnapshotJob PodSnapshot template add an optional, nonnegative checkpointRetryLimit. SnapshotJob construction copies the template value into the generated PodSnapshot. Tests cover positive, zero, and absent values.
Configure and resolve retry limit agent/internal/types/config.go, agent/internal/types/config_test.go, charts/snapshot/values.yaml, charts/snapshot/values.schema.json, charts/snapshot/templates/configmap.yaml
The agent resolves a present request value, including 0, before the configured limit and default. Validation rejects negative configured values. Helm values default to 0, and the generated checkpoint configuration includes retryLimit.
No concrete merge-blocking risk is established by the reviewed changes.

PodSnapshot.spec.checkpointRetryLimit carries the per-capture value and
the operator copies it onto the work order, which is what the agent

Both are pointers so absent is distinct from an explicit 0: 0 asks for no

That default is 0, so retry is opt-in and an upgrade changes no existing

A negative retryLimit was only caught when the agent parsed its config,
which fails the pod rather than the install. values.schema.json rejects
it at helm install or upgrade instead, where the message reaches whoever
set it.
Also reads ResolveRetryLimit's two cases the same way round.

The copy on PodSnapshotContent was a second source of truth for a value
the request already carries. Both specs are immutable and every content
is created or adopted from a PodSnapshot, so the back-pointer always
resolves and the copy could never say anything different.
The agent has get on podsnapshots already. The retry loop resolves the
limit through the content's snapshotRef when it first needs one, which is
after a failure, so a capture that succeeds never reads it.

Preserve CheckpointRetryLimit in the work order.
When a PodSnapshot is reconciled, buildPodSnapshotContent creates a PodSnapshotContentSpec without reading snap.Spec.CheckpointRetryLimit. PodSnapshotContentSpec has no corresponding field, so both an absent value and an explicit 0 become absent before the agent can consume them.
An absent value correctly selects the cluster default. An explicit 0 can incorrectly select a positive cluster default, causing retries when the request requires no retries. Add the field to PodSnapshotContentSpec, regenerate its CRD and deepcopy code, and copy the pointer in buildPodSnapshotContent. The future agent retry loop must then pass that value to ResolveRetryLimit.

buildPodSnapshot constructs the PodSnapshot spec field by field, so
nothing on the template reaches it unless it is threaded through.
podSnapshotTemplate exposed only metadata and targetContainers, which
left a SnapshotJob with no way to ask for retries at all — and that is
the path most captures take, so the per-capture limit was unreachable
for them and every capture silently took the cluster default.
The template now carries checkpointRetryLimit and buildPodSnapshot copies
it, keeping absent distinct from an explicit 0.
