Left a few comments. The main ones are the deadline path, where the source pods are deleted and cleanup is blocked forever, and the helper roots of completed checkpoints never being reclaimed.

🔵 Trivial · Synchronize the assertion with a post-marker sweep. · test_snapshotjob.py:470-496
e2e/tests/test_snapshotjob.py:470-496
📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winSynchronize the assertion with a post-marker sweep.
The E2E setup normally sets the sweep interval to 5 seconds, not the chart’s 10-minute default. But the 12-second sleep does not prove that a queued sweep completed after the marker was created. The warning check can match an Event from an earlier sweep; the operator emits that warning only once per SnapshotJob UID. The test can therefore pass without checking the marker after a sweep. Trigger or observe a post-marker sweep, then assert that the marker remains.

Docs look good now: the new rows match the table, and the section is short and sits after Restore under "Advanced". Two non-blocking suggestions: (1) NonTargetArtifactsRetained is emitted only when the proof can never arrive (for example after Pod removal), and once per attempt per operator process, so "If the proof can never arrive, such as after Pod removal, Snapshot retains the directory and emits a NonTargetArtifactsRetained warning" would be accurate. (2) Add a CHANGELOG [Unreleased] entry for SnapshotJob.spec.nonTargetArtifacts, marked as a CRD change, and move "Deploy the matching CRD and operator together" there.

What type of PR is this?
What this PR does / why we need it:
Failed SnapshotJobs can leave non-target containers' published bytes in a shared checkpoint PVC. This adds an opt-in, immutable
spec.nonTargetArtifactspolicy that declares the regular non-target writer containers and selectsonFailure: CleanuporRetain. Omission andRetainpreserve the bytes. The old writer annotation remains accepted for existing jobs but does not grant automatic cleanup; a new job cannot set both declarations. The maintenance queue reclaims only after positive aggregate failure, exact SnapshotJob/source Job UID and writer-declaration checks, a terminal source Job, and authoritative proof that every source Pod container has stopped. It bounds and paginates scans, gives non-target cleanup a separate work-item deadline, and preserves capture artifacts, failed objects, active writers, unrelated generations, and completed checkpoints.
Successful non-target artifacts remain caller-managed output after PodSnapshotContent deletion. The caller removes the exact attempt-UID directory after all restore consumers are finished. If a terminal source Job's Pods have disappeared before the operator can verify writer exit, this PR retains that failed-attempt root for verified manual cleanup and emits a warning once per attempt per operator process. A terminal Job condition alone is not safe proof across all supported Kubernetes versions. Automatic cleanup of that no-Pod deadline path remains out of scope pending a supported-version guarantee or another durable writer-exit proof. The current CPU E2E test covers the retained-warning behavior after a real deadline and Pod removal.
Which issue(s) this PR fixes:

The CRD and operator must be deployed together before callers rely on the typed policy. An older CRD can prune the new field, yielding retention rather than deletion. Automatic cleanup requires the exact typed
Cleanupchoice and does not infer consent from the legacy annotation.Does this PR introduce an API change?
