feat(usage): add a Usage tab with provider limits and usage history - #2225
This PR adds a Usage tab to Settings. It shows live provider limits and a usage history.
Provider limits
Two host services supply the limits: copilotQuota and providerQuotas. They cover GitHub Copilot, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Moonshot, Kimi Code, z.ai, MiniMax, NanoGPT, and OpenCode Go.
The payload parsers are pure functions with unit tests.
A key goes only to the default host of its own provider. A profile with a custom base URL shows "not checked". A profile on the default host is preferred over a gateway profile.
Only successful results are cached (60 seconds), per provider and per key. A failed refresh removes the old entry. Callers that ask for the same key share one request.
The webview sends a request id and cancels on unmount. The host aborts the fetches when the last waiting caller leaves, and the webview ignores an answer for an older request.
Copilot uses the GitHub session that VS Code already holds. It never prompts. Unknown usage shows "Usage not reported", not "0% used".
Keys stay in the extension host. The webview gets display-ready rows only.
Usage history
The history comes from local task history. The host records per-model usage (usageByModel) in task metadata, so a later change of the active profile does not relabel old requests.
Filters: Today, 7 days, 30 days, All time, and a workspace filter. A daily chart, breakdowns by provider, model, and mode, and CSV export.
Unpriced providers show tokens and "no price", not $0.00.
The chart steps by calendar day, so it is correct across a daylight-saving change. The view and the export share one "now" that rolls over at local midnight.
CSV cells that start with =, +, -, @, tab, or carriage return get a leading apostrophe.
Review notes
The Copilot quota endpoint (copilot_internal/user) is not a public API. A failure shows a quiet status row.
This PR adds no setting, so it does not touch updateSettings.
Mutation gate:mutation-diff reports 654 changed executable lines in the extension and 749 in the webview (limit 500). Most of it is providerQuotas.ts (467), UsageSettings.tsx (394), and usage.ts (181). The parsers and the view model are pure code with their own tests. I ask a maintainer for a one-time exclusion for this PR.
Test Procedure
pnpm check-types passes in webview-ui, src, and packages/types.
Webview tests pass (178 files, 2283 tests). Extension tests for the language models, the webview handler, and task persistence pass (53 files, 1097 tests).
Playwright snapshots cover the populated, degraded, and empty states in four themes.
The DST tests run in America/New_York and assert that the fixture crosses a clock change.
Manual: open Settings > Usage. Check each state. Click Refresh. Close the tab while a request runs. Export a CSV and open it in a spreadsheet.
Added a Usage section in Settings with cost and token summaries, daily charts, task and provider/model breakdowns, and date-range and workspace filters.
Export filtered usage history to CSV or open a task from its breakdown.
View quota and balance information for supported providers, including GitHub Copilot, with refresh controls and reset dates where available.
Usage history shows provider and model details when available, and uses token totals when costs are unavailable.
Bug Fixes
Usage breakdowns reflect saved task messages and clear when usage data is no longer available.
Request attribution stays consistent when provider settings change during a task.
Date ranges and charts follow local calendar days across daylight-saving changes.
CSV exports neutralize potentially unsafe spreadsheet formulas, and task message saves are ordered to prevent newer data from being overwritten.
Localization
Added Usage settings translations across supported languages.
The change adds provider/model usage tracking, provider-quota retrieval, and a Usage section in Settings. The section summarizes local task history, displays quota information, and supports filtered CSV export.
Changes: Usage history and provider quotas
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Record and persist provider/model usage packages/types/src/history.ts, src/core/task/Task.ts, src/core/task/taskSaveQueue.ts, src/core/task-persistence/...
History items now store optional per-provider/model request, token, cache, and cost totals. Request records retain provider and model attribution. Message writes and metadata updates are queued separately, and persistence can explicitly clear a stored breakdown.
Parse and retrieve provider quotas packages/types/src/providers/vscode-llm.ts, src/services/language-models/...
New quota contracts and services parse supported provider responses, load profiles, select credentials, and manage cached, shared, timed, and cancellable requests.
Extension-host messages carry quota requests, cancellations, and responses. Provider disposal aborts pending requests. Settings displays quota states and windows, and supports refresh.
Aggregate and display usage history webview-ui/src/utils/usage.ts, webview-ui/src/utils/providerLabel.ts, webview-ui/src/components/settings/UsageSettings.tsx, webview-ui/src/i18n/locales/*/settings.json, webview-ui/playwright/gallery/stories.tsx
Usage helpers filter and aggregate history by date and workspace. The Usage view displays totals, charts, provider/model/mode breakdowns, and top tasks. Locales, stories, and tests cover the view and its states.
Zoo-Code-Org/Zoo-Code#2216: Changes the same Usage tab contracts and modules, so overlapping declarations and implementations require coordination.
Zoo-Code-Org/Zoo-Code#2299: Deletes the PROVIDERS export imported by providerLabel, so that import and helper need coordination.
Merge Risk: Moderate · up to f62f9
Quota requests can leave approved hosts, some usage labels remain in English, and the mutation CI job fails. Resolve or explicitly accept these risks before merging.

Explanation
The title "feat(usage): add a Usage tab with provider limits and usage history" matches the main change. The changeset adds a Usage tab in Settings, provider quota retrieval and display, and local usage history with filters, breakdowns, and CSV export. The title is concise and specific, and it names both major parts of the change.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the repository template. It links the issue (Closes: #2215), and it covers the approach for provider limits and usage history, including the cache, cancellation, and CSV safety design. It lists test procedure steps and reports results, and it includes screenshots and a completed pre-submission checklist. It also notes a mutation-gate exclusion request. Minor gaps: the Documentation Updates section is not explicitly marked, the Get in Touch section (Discord username) is empty, and the Visual Snapshots section does not reference the committed baseline paths beyond the checklist mention. These gaps are non-critical.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Active direct target: [#2215]. No parent or contextual issue applies. All requirements in #2215 are coding requirements, except translation work, which is also a code change in locale files.
[#2215] Provider limits: copilotQuota.ts (parseCopilotQuota, getGitHubCopilotQuota) reads premium-request usage, allowance, percent, and reset date. It uses the silent VS Code GitHub session and does not prompt. providerQuotas.ts covers OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Moonshot, Kimi Code, z.ai, MiniMax, NanoGPT, and OpenCode Go. ProviderLimits.tsx renders rows and the Refresh control. SettingsView.tsx adds the Usage tab.
[#2215] Default host and custom base URL: keys go only to the approved default host of the provider. A custom-base-URL profile gets a not-checked status and no request. A default-host profile is preferred over a gateway profile. The Image 1 description in the PR objectives shows "Custom base URL — not checked" in the UI. The exact issue wording is not verified in source; the locale en/settings.json read was truncated before the usage group.
[#2215] Key handling: keys stay in the extension host. The webview receives only ProviderQuota display rows.
[#2215] Cache, failure, and cancellation: successful results are cached for 60 seconds per provider and key. A failed refresh clears the older entry. Concurrent callers share one request, which aborts when the last waiter leaves. webviewMessageHandler.ts tracks request IDs and cancels them. ClineProvider.ts aborts them on view replacement and dispose. ProviderLimits.tsx ignores responses that do not match the latest request ID.
[#2215] Unpriced usage: usage.ts uses token metrics when total cost is zero. Unpriced cost buckets carry token values and zero share. UsageSettings.tsx shows "no price" for these rows.
[#2215] History: usageByModel in task metadata (taskMetadata.ts, usageByModel.ts) records per-model usage. usage.ts provides range, workspace, daily, provider, model, and mode aggregation. No new network call or telemetry is added for history.
[#2215] CSV export: export-usage-csv.ts validates input and neutralizes formula-leading cells on the host. Tests cover the formula trigger characters.
[#2215] Translations: the 18 locale settings.json files each add the usage strings.
[#2215] Tests: parser, cache, cancellation, history, DST, CSV, and UI tests match these objectives.
No concrete coding requirement from #2215 is unmet in the reviewed change set. This verdict rests on the whole-PR change summary plus one partial source read. Focused reads of the quota service and the Usage UI were not made in this pass.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
Each changed area connects to [#2215] or supports its implementation:
Usage UI and types: UsageSettings, ProviderLimits, SettingsView, providerLabel, usage.ts, and the vscode-extension-host and vscode-llm types serve the Usage tab.
Quota services: copilotQuota.ts, providerQuotas.ts, and quotaUtils.ts serve the provider limits objective.
Per-model history: usageByModel in taskMetadata.ts and usageByModel.ts, and the history.ts schema, serve the history objective.
Task history persistence: taskSaveQueue.ts, the Task.ts save ordering, and taskStoreConcurrency.ts keep the usageByModel metadata consistent with persisted messages. overwriteClineMessages now throws on failed saves. This affects general message persistence, not only the Usage tab. It is connected because usage metadata is derived from persisted messages.
Request-bound pricing in Task.ts: each request records its provider, model, and pricing protocol. This keeps history cost correct after a profile change, which the PR description requires. The same change also affects cost and telemetry calculations in Task.ts. This is a side effect outside the Usage tab. It does not add new telemetry or change settings. Reviewers should confirm the telemetry effect is intended.
Abort signals in ProviderSettingsManager.ts: these support required cancellation of queued quota reads.
exportUsageCsv and the exportUsageCsv case in webviewMessageHandler.ts: these serve the CSV export objective.
Locales, visual fixtures, and tests: these support the translated strings and required test coverage.
The PR adds no setting and does not change updateSettings. No demonstrated unrelated feature or refactor appears in the change summary. This verdict rests on the whole-PR change summary.
Full details: Regression Evidence
Explanation
No regression-evidence failure found. Changed executable modules have focused tests, including quota parsers and cancellation/error paths, usage aggregation and persistence ordering/clears, CSV validation and formula neutralization, and SettingsView/ProviderLimits interactions. The new Usage UI also has Playwright component screenshots for populated, degraded, empty, long-text, and multiple themes. The changed locale files are mechanical translation updates.
Full details: Security Boundaries
Explanation
No concrete secret, PII, input-execution, or allowlist bypass exists in the changed paths. requestProviderQuotas reads organizationAllowList and passes ProfileValidator.isProfileAllowed to loadProfilesWithActive before calling getProviderQuotas (src/core/webview/webviewMessageHandler.ts:1665-1676). The loader excludes refused profiles and returns an active profile ID only when that profile is allowed (src/services/language-models/providerQuotas.ts:706-714). Tests cover refused profiles and credentials being absent from the quota request (src/core/webview/__tests__/webviewMessageHandler.providerQuotas.spec.ts:130-143). Quota fetches use fixed provider hosts, and only formatted quota rows are posted to the webview. CSV export bounds and neutralizes untrusted cell content. Prior failure addressed: The quota handler now reads organizationAllowList, filters profiles with ProfileValidator.isProfileAllowed, and passes only allowed profiles and an allowed active ID to getProviderQuotas. Tests cover refused profiles and exclude their credentials from the quota request.
Full details: Persistence Integrity
Explanation
The changed usage persistence path can still leave messages and history metadata inconsistent. Task.saveClineMessages uses process-local queues (src/core/task/Task.ts:1796-1808; src/core/task/taskSaveQueue.ts:9-24) but writes ui_messages.json and history_item.json as separate operations. For example, host A can persist an older message snapshot, host B can persist newer messages and usageByModel, and host A can later write metadata derived from its older snapshot. TaskHistoryStore atomically merges each individual history file, but no durable revision links metadata to the message snapshot, so the later delta can overwrite usageByModel. In addition, writeTaskMetadata catches and logs metadata failures (Task.ts:1862-1867), while saveClineMessages still returns success (Task.ts:1807-1808); a message write followed by a failed history write has no durable retry or recovery.
Resolution
Add a durable message revision or content version to ui_messages.json and the derived history metadata. Before committing metadata, verify that the revision matches the message snapshot; on mismatch, reload the persisted messages, recompute metadata, and retry. Alternatively commit messages and metadata in one durable transaction. If metadata persistence fails after the message write, return failure and add an automatic durable retry or recovery record instead of only logging the error.
Full details: Lifecycle Resource Cleanup
Explanation
The prior lifecycle failure remains in the current diff. The new quota request path calls loadProfilesWithActive(..., controller.signal) and disposal aborts that controller (webviewMessageHandler.ts:1650-1676, ClineProvider.ts:905-908). withDeadline stops waiting and releases its timer/listener, but ProviderSettingsManager.listConfig() and getProfile() only check the signal before load() (ProviderSettingsManager.ts:401-405, 452-459). A started load() awaits context.secrets.get() without cancellation (ProviderSettingsManager.ts:668-670) while holding the _lock queue (95-99). If that read hangs, closing or replacing the Usage view returns from the quota request but leaves the storage read and lock pending. A later Usage request or provider-settings operation then remains blocked behind abandoned work. The added manager tests cover an already-aborted request and a queued request, but not a started hanging storage read (ProviderSettingsManager.spec.ts:616-639).
Resolution
Make started profile-storage reads cancellation-aware at the source boundary, or redesign the ProviderSettingsManager lock so an abandoned read cannot retain the queue while preserving migration and write serialization. Add an integration test using the real ProviderSettingsManager: start a hanging secrets.get(), abort the quota request through view disposal, then start a second profile load and verify it is not blocked or duplicated.

Why one PR. The Usage tab is one feature. The limits, the history, and the per-model usage record share types (ProviderQuota, usageByModel). A split leaves a half-working tab between merges. I already split the larger first PR (#2216) into three: time/date (#2223), fonts (#2224), and this one. The other two are under the limit.
Why the size is mostly parsers.providerQuotas.ts is the payload parsers for nine providers. They are pure functions of a JSON payload. usage.ts is a pure view model. Both have their own specs, including edge cases, DST, and CSV safety. The code that touches the network is small.
What I ask for. An exclusion for this PR only, or a one-time limit bump for the two packages.
If you prefer a split. I can cut it as: (1) the extension quota services and the message, (2) the history view model and the Usage tab. That makes the second PR depend on the first.

## Visual Tests (Playwright Story Gallery)
### When a UI change needs a snapshot
Skip a visual test when the change is behavior-only (state transitions, handler wiring, validation) — those belong in Vitest. Visual tests are for what JSDOM cannot verify.
[warning] 61-61: This synchronous effect update causes an extra render: Calling setState synchronously within an effect can trigger cascading renders. Prefer deriving or initializing the value before render. If the effect must read a browser API after mount, treat this as advisory or suppress it with // react-doctor-disable-next-line react-hooks-js/set-state-in-effect.
Effects are intended to synchronize state between React and external systems such as manually updating the DOM, state management libraries, or other platform APIs. In general, the body of an effect should do one or both of the following:
Update external systems with the latest state from React.
Subscribe for updates from some external system, calling setState in a callback function when external state changes.
⚠️Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Move the request-ID increment out of the component body so React Compiler can optimize it.
React Doctor reports that ++quotaRequestCounter on Line 48 is an update expression on a module-level variable. The compiler does not support it and skips memoization for ProviderLimits. The behavior is correct, and the module-level counter must stay. Wrap the increment in a module-scope helper.

src/services/language-models/copilotQuota.ts: 1
121-130: Stale Copilot quota can be served after sign-out or account switch.
A previous review already raised this point, and the thread is still open. getGitHubCopilotQuota returns a cached success at Line 91, before getGitHubToken() runs at Line 96. After a sign-out or account switch, a normal call within 60 seconds returns the previous account's quota. The new failure-clearing code does not run on this path, because no fetch happens. Invalidate the cache on session change, or store the token with the cached entry and compare it before reuse. Add a regression test that caches a result, changes the session, and makes a normal call within the TTL.
No custom-base-URL fields exist for these providers.
The four provider schemas expose API keys and provider-specific settings, but no base-URL setting. The requested ownHost change and custom-gateway test do not apply.
I went through all 21 open threads of the last review and answered each one. All are fixed in the latest push except where noted:
Behaviour: the provider limits are requested only when the Usage tab is shown (Settings mounts every tab to index it, which used to send a request and a cancel); the usage range starts at the start of its first day even where a day begins at 01:00 (a real bug, tested in America/Santiago); CSV cells that begin with a NUL, another control character or a format character before =, +, -, @ are neutralised; the chart dates follow the application language.
Locales: the wording of es, fr, it, ko, nl, pl and ru, and unit labels that do not change with the number ("1 hours" would have shown in ca, de, es, fr, it, nl, pl, pt-BR).
Tests: interleaved grouping, a helper typed without a cast, a payload helper that fails when nothing was written, the workspace switch, the filtered export, and the new cases above. Each new guard was checked to fail without it.

Coordinate task message and metadata saves across extension hosts, or add a
persisted revision/CAS. The metadata write must verify that the message snapshot
is still current before applying its delta; on a stale snapshot, recompute
metadata from the current persisted messages and retry. Keep the message and
history commit ordered as one durable transaction where possible, and define
recovery for a metadata write that fails after the message write.

Make profile loading abort-aware at the source boundary. Pass the abort signal

## ESLint Suppressions
When writing new code:
- Avoid `as any`; use typed APIs directly (e.g. `RooCodeEventName.X` constants with typed `on()`/`listenerCount()`), or bracket notation (`obj["privateField"]`) to access private members. Prefer precise test doubles or `unknown` with a type guard over double assertions (`as unknown as T`); use double assertions only as a last resort, with a comment explaining why.

ownHost accepts any path on the provider's default origin. A profile such as https://openrouter.ai/custom can therefore use its API key for https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/key, instead of remaining unchecked.

Preserve unpriced usage in a mixed provider bucket.
When one provider has both priced and unpriced model entries, addTo marks the combined provider bucket as priced after the priced entry is added. Cost mode then renders the whole provider bucket as cost, so the unpriced contribution loses its token count and no price indication. Keep priced and unpriced contributions distinguishable in the provider aggregation, and add a regression test for both entries under the same provider.

Translate the OpenRouter spend and key-limit labels.
The OpenRouter parser returns hardcoded English valueLabel text for the spend windows and the key-limit window. ProviderLimits displays valueLabel directly when a window has no name. Non-English locales therefore show English spend text. The linked issue requires new strings to be translated in all supported locales.
Route these labels through translatable keys, as the other quota windows do with name.key. Add the new keys to each supported locale.

Lifecycle Resource Cleanup: fixed in the latest push, at the source boundary as you asked. ProfileSource.listConfig and getProfile take { signal }, loadProfilesWithActive hands the request's signal to both, and ProviderSettingsManager.listConfig / getProfile check it when their turn comes in the serialized lock: a call that was aborted while it waited behind other operations (or was already aborted) throws and reads nothing from storage. Tests: the manager (already aborted, aborted while queued behind a running read with the call after it not held up, and the unchanged read), and the service (the signal reaches the list and every profile). Each of the four changed lines fails a test when removed. What I did not do is let an aborted request abandon a secret read that has already started: the lock is held until that read settles on purpose, because load can migrate and write, and a second load must not run beside it. An abandoned read would turn the lock into a race, so a read that has started still runs to its end (as the comments on both methods say).
Persistence Integrity (across extension hosts): unchanged, and I want to be exact about why. The queues are shared by every Task instance of a task in one extension host (that part is fixed and tested). Two extension hosts writing the same task is a different matter: a revision that is verified before the metadata write needs the history entry to carry a revision of the message file, and the delta merge to refuse an older one. A message count or a latest timestamp cannot be that revision, because deleting or editing messages legitimately lowers both and must still be able to clear the usage breakdown; it needs a persisted counter written under the messages file's lock and compared under the history store's lock. That is a change to the persistence model of every task (the format of ui_messages.json and history_item.json, and the merge rules), not to the Usage tab, and I do not think it should ride along with this feature PR. The existing protection stays: the messages are merged under the file lock and each save derives its metadata from the messages it actually persisted, so the next save from either host recomputes the entry.

Failed pre-merge checks:
- Linked Issues check:
Translate every new `usage` string and provider-limit string in
`webview-ui/src/i18n/locales/es/settings.json` into Spanish. Then confirm that
no new English string remains in the Spanish locale.
- Regression Evidence:
Add focused cases to `src/core/task-persistence/__tests__/usageByModel.spec.ts`
for `NaN`, positive/negative `Infinity`, and nonnumeric token/cost fields.
Assert that the request remains counted when a token field is numeric, while
non-finite and nonnumeric token/cost values contribute zero. Add malformed
cache-counter cases if those counters are intended to be finite-safe.
- Persistence Integrity:
Add a durable message revision or content version to `ui_messages.json` and the
derived history metadata. Before committing metadata, verify that the persisted
message revision still matches the snapshot used for `taskMetadata`; if it does
not match, reload the messages, recompute metadata, and retry. Alternatively use
one durable transaction for the message and metadata stages. Keep the awaited
metadata stage and add a durable retry or recovery path when metadata
persistence fails after the message write.
- Lifecycle Resource Cleanup:
Make the real profile-storage operation cancellation-aware at the source
boundary, or otherwise ensure an aborted started read cannot retain
`ProviderSettingsManager._lock`. Do not allow replacement Usage profile reads to
queue behind an abandoned operation unless the operation has settled or is
safely cancelled. Add an integration test with the real
`ProviderSettingsManager`: start a hanging secret read, abort the quota request,
start a second profile load, and verify that it is not blocked or duplicated.

1735-1738: Stability & Availability
No caller-handling change is needed.
The pending-edit, delete, edit, checkpoint-restore, and completion-checkpoint-restore paths all await the operation inside error-handling paths. The remaining caller uses persist=false, so it cannot receive this new rejection. The reported unhandled-rejection concern does not apply.
Linked Issues check (Spanish): I compared every string under usage in es/settings.json with the English one. Everything is translated, including all the provider-limit strings. Only three values equal the English text, and all three are correct Spanish: stats.tokens ("tokens", the word Spanish uses for them), tokensShort ("tok", an abbreviation of it) and chartLabel ("{{metric}}, total {{total}}", where "total" is the same word). Nothing to translate, so no change.
Regression Evidence:usageByModel.spec.ts now covers corrupted numbers: a number too big to be finite (Infinity, 1e999), too small (-Infinity), NaN (JSON writes it as null), a string, a boolean, an object and an array, in a token field and in the cost, with the request still counted and the numeric fields kept; a request that spoils nothing for the others of the same model; both token fields not numbers (not counted, as before); and the cache counters. The last one found a real gap: cacheReads and cacheWrites were added without the finiteness check the tokens and cost get, so one corrupted record could put Infinity into the sums. They are now left out when they are not finite. Each of the four guards fails a test when removed.
Lifecycle Resource Cleanup: my last reply stands. An aborted request that is still waiting for the profile lock reads nothing (fixed at the source boundary in the previous push); one whose read has already started keeps the lock until the read settles, on purpose: load can migrate and write, and a second load beside it would be a race. That also holds for every other operation of the manager, so a storage read that never settles blocks the manager for Usage and for everything else alike, and is not something that cancelling a Usage request can or should hide. I am leaving it.
Persistence Integrity (across extension hosts): unchanged, for the reasons in my previous comment (it needs a persisted revision in the message and history files and new merge rules, which is a change to the persistence of every task).
Also fixed from the review: a Kimi Code profile with no recorded auth method is an OAuth one in the quota path too, as everywhere else.

migration and write serialization. Add an integration test with the real
`ProviderSettingsManager`: start a hanging `secrets.get()`, abort the quota
request through disposal, then start a second profile load and verify it is not
blocked or duplicated.

Require regression coverage at the lowest valid harness with behavior-focused assertions, including relevant negative, error, false/unset, and boundary cases.
Security Boundaries (organisation allow list). Fixed in the latest push. The requestProviderQuotas handler now reads the organisation allow list (provider.getState(), as ClineProvider does for a request) and passes ProfileValidator.isProfileAllowed to loadProfilesWithActive, which leaves a refused profile out of the result before anything is queried: its credentials never reach getProviderQuotas. A refused profile is also not reported as the active one (an allowed active profile still is, and still comes first). Profiles that are all refused give an empty list, not a failure; a state that cannot be read is a failure and queries nothing. Tests: loadProfilesWithActive (refused left out, no predicate allows all, refused active id dropped / allowed active kept, all refused is not a failure) and the handler (a refused profile and its key are absent from the call, the active id, a list that names no provider of the profiles, allow-all, an unreadable state). Ignoring the predicate in the loader, keeping the active id of a refused profile, and not passing the predicate (or passing true) in the handler each fail tests (checked).
Persistence Integrity and Lifecycle (started profile read). These two are the same as before, and I have not changed the design for them. For the cross-host persistence check, a revision of ui_messages.json / history_item.json would change the persistence model (and needs merge rules for two hosts writing the same task); a message count or latest timestamp cannot be that revision because a delete legitimately lowers both. For the lifecycle check, a started ProviderSettingsManager read keeps its lock on purpose: load can migrate and write, and abandoning the read would race with that write. What is done is that the abort signal reaches the source, so a queued call that was aborted reads nothing. If a maintainer wants either decided differently, I can follow that.

Translate the DeepSeek balance suffix.
parseDeepSeekBalance returns ${formatMoney(...)} left, and ProviderLimits displays that value directly because the window has no structured name. A non-English user can therefore see the English left suffix. Keep the amount separate from the suffix, add a locale key for the suffix, and render it through t in ProviderLimits.

Localize the Moonshot balance label.
parseMoonshotBalance embeds the English "left" suffix in valueLabel, and ProviderLimits renders that fallback without translation. Return locale-neutral balance data or a translatable balance label, then add the required locale entries. The separate DeepSeek parser correction does not mechanically fix Moonshot.

Update parseMoonshotBalance so its returned balance data does not hardcode the

Reject redirects in getJson.
Fetch follows redirects by default. A cross-origin redirect still sends a request to the redirected host, even though Fetch removes the Authorization header. The redirected response can then be parsed as quota data. The explicit fallback URLs are approved destinations, but they do not permit arbitrary redirects.

Reject redirects for the Copilot quota request.
Fetch follows redirects when redirect is omitted. If api.github.com returns a cross-origin redirect, this request reaches the redirected host even though Fetch removes the Authorization header. The redirected response can then be parsed as Copilot quota data, and the request violates the default-host-only requirement.

Failed pre-merge checks:
- Persistence Integrity:
Add a durable message revision or content version to `ui_messages.json` and the
derived history metadata. Before committing metadata, verify that the revision
matches the message snapshot; on mismatch, reload the persisted messages,
recompute metadata, and retry. Alternatively commit messages and metadata in one
durable transaction. If metadata persistence fails after the message write,
return failure and add an automatic durable retry or recovery record instead of
only logging the error.

Skip task-history sorting when reading the allow list.
If a user has substantial task history, provider.getState() copies and sorts every history item on each quota request. This handler uses only organizationAllowList. Pass { includeTaskHistory: false } to avoid that work during open and Refresh. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
