Bake Ubuntu Sans fonts into the iPad App #890

Closed

Description

@theintjengineer

Hi. You bundled Ubuntu Sans and Ubuntu Sans Mono fonts directly into the Android app so we could pick them without having to mess with installing extra fonts to the system. Thanks for that.

Could you please do the same thing to the iPad app, i.e., bundle those two fonts as well? Plus point if you also bundle Monaco¹ haha.

THANK YOU.

¹ Ubuntu Sans and Ubuntu Sans Mono are the priority, though.

    Thanks for asking! Done in ZenNotes/zennotesios#43: the iPhone and iPad app now bundles Ubuntu Sans and Ubuntu Sans Mono, the same files the Android app ships (Latin, Cyrillic and Greek, upright and italic, all weights). Pick them under Settings → Typography for the interface, text and monospace fonts, with nothing to install. It ships in the next iOS release.

    Checked on an iPad simulator: choosing them through the menus sets the editor, code blocks and app chrome in those fonts.

    About Monaco: I can't bundle it, sorry. It's Apple's own macOS font and its licence only covers use on macOS, and iOS/iPadOS doesn't include it. The closest built-in options are Menlo (in the list) and SF Mono (the default).
