Use case: Persistant media

I can see this being useful for video and audio. I think it's understandable that the video would drop frames during a navigation, but it'd be nice if the audio could be unbroken. Not sure if that's possible.

Unbroken audio playback would be a requirement for our use case.

I'm curious of the expected behavior in an unexpecdly long navigation: I click link while audio is playing, I get stuck fetching the new page before the first render for ~seconds. Is there any way for me to stop the audio as a user?

I have several ideas:

• We could try popping the persistent widget out into a pip window somehow during navigation, but that would look bad when the navigation finishes because it would be popping out and in rapidly.
• We could try to keep the persistent widget interactive in the same spot during paint holding, so if it has a play/pause button that is visible when the navigation happens then the user could still interact with it.
• We could kill the widget if the navigation is too slow and paint holding lasts for 5 seconds or something.
• We could provide some sort of browser ui that lets you pause audio? There's already some browser ui which shows that a tab is playing audio and theres a button to mute it, I think.
