This PR:

  • addresses all clippy lints in the workspace.
  • fixes some bugs from edge-cases in tree construction and non-default partition strategies.
  • fixes some bugs in tree compression resulting from a previously incorrect bottom-up traversal.
  • includes some minor optimization of tree construction and search algorithms.
