My PhD student has reported that when gerun launches hybrid codes under OpenMPI 3.1.4 round robin settings are ignored and processes are started on the first node. We were able to make things launch correctly under mpirun so need to work out what's going on and fix gerun.
I note from the documentation that a lot of options have been deprecated in 3.x which could be related.
