Hi Arjen,
Can you please update your fields.f90 before I can merge it? There are a few changes in my version which I don't to loose. I think I have addressed your fixes anyway. Other files look file to me and ready to be merged.

Fixes some minor GCC incompatibilities where GCC is more strict than ifort.
Fixed a bunch of formatting warnings on GCC.
Minor makefile fixes.
