fix(auth): make git authentication errors provider-neutral and actionable - #58
Every deployment told git users their sign-in failed at "Google Identity-Aware Proxy", whatever issuer it actually uses, which sent people looking in the wrong place.
Refusals that a retry cannot fix should say what to do next, and help text for paths that can never be reached only misleads.
Medium Risk
Changes user-visible git authentication error text and when 401 vs 200+ERR is returned; behavior is heavily tested but touches the security-sensitive smart HTTP auth path.
Overview
Git smart HTTP auth failures no longer embed Google Identity-Aware Proxy wording or installer/sign-in recipes in pkt-line ERR text. In-band help is limited to cases a credential refresh cannot fix (Forbidden, Unavailable); Invalid/Unauthorized still return a real 401 so git erases stale cached tokens.
Forbidden messages tell users to contact the administrator; Unavailable asks them to retry shortly. In OIDC mode, an optional server.auth.provider_name (display-only, validated for safe terminal output) appears as “Identity provider: …”, falling back to the issuer URL; token mode names no external provider.
Adds provider_name to config (file, env, example TOML), removes client_setup from error paths, and extends e2e coverage for permission denial, disallowed OIDC email, and verifier outage.

The change adds an optional OIDC provider display name and updates Git authentication failures to return guidance for permission denials and verifier outages. Invalid or unauthorized credentials continue to receive HTTP authentication errors.

Summary
OIDC provider name configuration crates/walgit-config/src/lib.rs, walgit.example.toml
Adds an optional provider_name. OIDC validation rejects blank names, names over 256 bytes, and names with control or bidirectional-formatting characters. The example documents the issuer URL default and display-only use. Tests cover parsing, environment overrides, Unicode values, invalid names, and omission.
Returns in-band guidance for permission denials and verifier outages, including the configured provider name or issuer. Invalid or unauthorized credentials receive HTTP authentication errors. Tests cover token and OIDC responses, and the security documentation describes the guidance rules and setup-recipe locations.

Explanation
The title names the main change: git authentication errors become provider-neutral and actionable. The raw summary shows the work matches this, including the removal of the hardcoded provider label, the new optional provider_name config, and the change to return help only for actionable errors. The title is concise and specific, and it follows the conventional commit style.

Explanation
The description states the two problems the PR fixes. It says git users were wrongly told that sign-in failed at Google Identity-Aware Proxy, and it says help text for unreachable paths misleads users. It also notes the cherry-picked upstream PR. These points match the changeset summary, which covers the provider name handling and the removal of unreachable help text.

A rabbit reads the provider name, And checks each error, not the same. For denied access, ask the wise; For outages, retry when skies clear. The invalid token gets HTTP’s reply, Then hops away beneath the sky.
Assert the 401 for invalid and missing receive-pack credentials too.
The new test sends missing and invalid credentials only to git-upload-pack. The git-receive-pack advertisement is checked only with a valid read-only token, which returns 200 with an in-band ERR. A change that returned 200 for invalid receive-pack credentials would pass this test. The server contract requires a real 401 for invalid or expired credentials, so this path needs the same check.

Route the POST auth errors through the provider-aware help message.
The upload_pack and receive_pack POST handlers map auth failures with map_err(auth_err). That helper returns a plain ApiError and never calls auth_help_message. A forbidden or unavailable-verifier failure on a direct POST therefore gives no provider name and no retry guidance. The info/refs path does include them. Git normally calls info/refs first, so this POST path is reached mainly when a client skips that step or the verifier fails between the two requests. The gap predates this PR. The PR only adds the provider_name label, which only the info/refs path consumes.
I did not include an edit. The info/refs path returns auth_help_message text in a 200 pkt-line ERR response. Using the same pattern on the POST path would change HTTP status codes for these failures. That change needs a deliberate decision.

Update the auth-error handling in the upload_pack and receive_pack POST handlers
to include auth_help_message’s provider-aware guidance while preserving each
failure’s existing HTTP status; do not copy info/refs’ 200 pkt-line ERR response
behavior. Replace or adapt the auth_err mapping so forbidden and
unavailable-verifier failures carry the help text.
