Prepare Handoff is an AI agent handoff skill for creating project-scoped handoff bundles. It is packaged in a Codex-compatible Skill format, but the core workflow can be adapted to any AI agent environment that can read Markdown instructions and run local helper scripts.
It is useful when one or more AI work windows need to transfer state to a later window, or when a single window needs a durable checkpoint before continuing later.
- Creates single-window checkpoints and multi-window handoff sessions.
- Keeps different projects isolated under separate project keys.
- Lets multiple windows contribute to the same active project session.
- Maintains
registry.json, project.active.json,index.md,resume-prompt.md,state.json, and per-window handoff files. - Collects objective workspace state such as git branch, git head,
git status --short, and changed files. - Separates objective state collection from human/agent judgment, so the next agent can verify before continuing.
