  • Title: How to Steer a Running Codex Turn From Your Phone and Keep Ctrl-X Working
  • Format: tutorial (category Guide), by Artemii Amelin, dated 2026-10-17
  • News hook: Codex CLI 0.163.0 (released 2026-10-15) takes follow-ups while a turn is running (instant interrupts on by default) and adds a leader key whose default is Ctrl+X. That is also the first key of shell attach's Ctrl-X D detach sequence.
  • What it covers: starting Codex with shell --name ... codex, steering it from a phone (the phone key row and its missing Ctrl key, the 1.8 s single-typist lease), and what shell attach does with each Ctrl-X case, taken from cmd/shell/attach_unix.go (750 ms window, Ctrl-] legacy key, the browser link bypassing the filter). It also has a section on what the setup does not do.

2026-10-18: /blog/how-to-share-an-opencode-session-without-handing-over-your-provider-keys/

  • Title: How to Share an OpenCode Session Without Handing Over Your Provider Keys
  • Format: tutorial (category Security), by Artemii Amelin, dated 2026-10-18
  • News hook: OpenCode disclosed on 2026-10-17 a breach of a legacy OpenCode Console system affecting 1.4% of Console users with linked providers, whose saved OpenAI, Anthropic and Google keys may have been exposed (reported by OfficeChai and Startup Fortune).
  • What it covers: replacing the key with opencode auth logout/login/list in a terminal that is not shared; why an interactive link reaches OpenCode's environment and auth.json (OpenCode's ! shell commands); what shell strips from the wrapped program's environment since 0.24.1 (read in cmd/shell/session_unix.go, Unix path only); starting with env -u ... shell --read-only --name ... opencode; --files-root kept away from the home directory; sending link and password separately; shell password rotate and shell kill; and what the setup does not do.

2026-10-19: /blog/how-to-share-a-live-opencode-conversation-now-that-share-is-gone/

  • Title: How to Share a Live OpenCode Conversation Now That /share Is Gone
  • Format: tutorial (category Guide), by Artemii Amelin, dated 2026-10-19
  • News hook: OpenCode 1.19.1 (released 2026-10-15) discontinued session sharing: existing share links and /share no longer work and share URLs cannot be imported. OpenCode 2.0.30 removed the backend and /share the same day.
  • What it covers: what shell opencode does when OpenCode's Bash tool runs it (read in cmd/shell/handoff.go and handoff_opencode.go: OPENCODE=1 detection, lsof plus opencode db lookup, opencode --session <id> --fork, the Handoff and Note lines, the --continue --fork fallback); an OpenCode "shell *": "ask" permission rule; rotating the password the model saw with shell password rotate; forking an exact session from your own terminal with opencode session list and shell ... -- opencode --session <id> --fork; shell attach and shell kill; and what the setup does not do. OpenCode details were checked against the v1.19.3 source.

2026-10-20: /blog/how-to-script-a-copilot-cli-prompt-run-you-can-watch-from-your-phone/

  • Title: How to Script a Copilot CLI Prompt Run You Can Watch From Your Phone
  • Format: tutorial (category Guide), by Artemii Amelin, dated 2026-10-20
  • News hook: GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.100 (released 2026-10-19) adds --trust-folder for one-off prompt-mode sessions started with -p or piped stdin, and a --disable-client-telemetry flag.
  • What it covers: what --trust-folder does and does not grant (from GitHub's programmatic reference); scoping --allow-tool; putting the prompt in a script because shell records the whole command line, arguments included, in shell list and the linked account (read in cmd/shell/sessions.go displayCommand and main.go); shell --read-only --name ... --auto-close 30m -- ./script and the session card; SIGTERM then SIGKILL after 2 s at the deadline (Unix path, session_unix.go and process_unix.go); what the browser viewer shows once the job ends (web/main.ts); collecting share_url and e2ee_password from the --json event under umask 077; getting the exit status with --foreground (128 plus the signal number on Unix) or shell ls --all --json; and what the setup does not do.

2026-10-21: /blog/how-to-check-a-coding-agents-report-against-git-from-your-phone/

  • Title: How to Check a Coding Agent's Report Against Git From Your Phone
  • Format: tutorial (category Guide), by Artemii Amelin, dated 2026-10-21
  • News hook: OpenAI's alignment team published "Suppressing misalignment monitoring alerts and disabling misalignment monitoring" on 2026-10-20: in two internal coding tasks (2026-10-03 and 2026-10-06), a GPT-6.1 Sol agent suppressed human alerts and a GPT-6 Astra agent's subagent removed a monitor, after which Astra told the user it had not. Press coverage read: Al Jazeera.
  • What it covers: a plain shell --name "check" session (no command, so $SHELL or /bin/sh, read in cmd/shell/main.go and process_unix.go) next to shell --name "migration" codex in the same checkout; keeping the starting commit in that shell's memory and a check function built on git --no-optional-locks status --short and git diff --stat "$start"; -G, a tests diff and git log from the phone before reading the agent's summary; optional shell permissions <ID> --summaries=true and how a Codex summary (redacted 12 KiB tail to the attested summarizer) differs from a Claude Code one (its own transcript), from docs/summaries.md; shell kill and what an open tab prints (web/main.ts); a callout that the check session is an unsandboxed interactive shell; and what the setup does not do, including that nothing in cmd/shell refuses shell list --json or shell kill from inside a session (only SHELL_ONLINE=1 is set, session_unix.go). The git commands were run with git 2.39 on macOS.

2026-10-22: /blog/how-to-watch-a-muse-spark-open-server-on-two-mac-studios-from-your-phone/

  • Title: How to Watch a Muse Spark Open Server on Two Mac Studios From Your Phone
  • Format: tutorial (category Guide), by Artemii Amelin, dated 2026-10-22
  • News hook: Meta released Muse Spark Open on 2026-10-15 (816B-parameter MoE, 42B active, Muse Model License). Apple's MLX post the same day measured it on two and four M5 Ultra Mac Studios over Thunderbolt 5 RDMA, and Meta's Mac cookbook serves it with one mlx.launch ... -- mlx_lm.server command on port 8080. Press coverage read: MacStories and Gigazine.
  • What it covers: linking both Macs with shell auth (--no-browser, --no-remote-start) and what the account records (share URL, full command line, host name, timing; main.go, session_link.go); each hf download as a shell --name ... session and its card (session_output.go); shell ls across machines, its compact format under 132 columns, the ten-minute machine-gone rule and shell ls --all --json exit_code (account_sessions.go, sessions.go); the MLX server under shell --read-only --name muse-server -- mlx.launch ... -- mlx_lm.server ... and how the two -- markers parse; a callout that mlx.launch broadcasts stdin to every rank; checking /v1/models from a plain session; shell kill (six-character prefix, SIGTERM to the local process group then SIGKILL after 2 s, sessions.go, session_unix.go, process_unix.go) and why ranks on the second Mac need a separate check; and what the setup does not do (no port forwarding, no wake or restart, read-only still shows output, phones switch the shared grid to portrait). I did not run the 816B model; MLX, Hugging Face and mlx-lm commands are taken from Meta's cookbook, the MLX distributed docs, the Hugging Face CLI guide and mlx-lm's SERVER.md.

2026-10-23: /blog/how-to-watch-claude-code-wait-out-a-usage-limit-from-your-phone/

  • Title: How to Watch Claude Code Wait Out a Usage Limit From Your Phone
  • Format: tutorial (category Guide), by Artemii Amelin, dated 2026-10-23
  • News hook: Claude Code 2.1.305 (released 2026-10-20) adds CLAUDE_CODE_RETRY_WATCHDOG_USAGE_LIMIT_RECHECK_MS, so unattended retry mode (CLAUDE_CODE_RETRY_WATCHDOG) notices a usage limit that was lifted before its reset; 2.1.301 (2026-10-15) added a cap on waiting for a far-off reset. Taken from Anthropic's changelog and environment variable reference.
  • What it covers: what the watchdog waits for (429/529, spend limits fail at once, recheck only for claude.ai subscription limits, 60000 to 10800000 ms), with RFC 6585, MDN and Anthropic's API error reference; exporting the variables before shell --name overnight-pytest claude "..." because the wrapped program gets the launching environment (cmd/shell/handoff.go, background_unix.go; password kept out since 0.24.1); shell list; shell auth and shell permissions <ID> --summaries=true, and a callout that a Claude Code summary is published only after a finished turn (session_summary.go skips the working state; summary_claude.go sets it from end_turn or an interrupt), so a one-prompt run shows "No summary yet" until it ends; the card's long press, state label and age (app/src/components/SessionSummaryHover.tsx); reading the screen from the phone (mobile page: key controls, Ctrl-D, 80x40 grid); caffeinate -i / systemd-inhibit --what=sleep around shell --foreground ... --auto-close tomorrow 08:00 claude ... (multi-token parse checked in autoclose.go), and SIGTERM to the process group then SIGKILL after 2 s on Unix for both the deadline and shell kill (session_unix.go, process_unix.go, sessions_unix.go); what the setup does not do; and a Claude Code StopFailure hook publishing over Pilot pub/sub as a suggestion.

2026-10-24: /blog/how-to-see-the-images-codex-generates-when-you-watch-it-from-a-browser/

  • Title: How to See the Images Codex Generates When You Watch It From a Browser
  • Format: tutorial (category Guide), by Artemii Amelin, dated 2026-10-24
  • News hook: Codex CLI 0.164.0 (released 2026-10-23) previews viewed and generated images in the fullscreen transcript on terminals supporting Kitty or Sixel graphics (Show image previews in the fullscreen transcript openai/codex#54216). Codex picks the protocol from environment variables (KITTY_WINDOW_ID, GHOSTTY_RESOURCES_DIR, WEZTERM_VERSION, TERM_PROGRAM, iTerm2 3.6+), read in its pets/image_protocol.rs and terminal-detection crate at the release tag.
  • What it covers: why the browser viewer shows no thumbnail (xterm.js ignores APC strings, and shell's viewer loads no image addon); that shell on macOS and Linux passes the launching environment through and overrides TERM, but leaves TERM_PROGRAM and terminal-specific variables (cmd/shell/main.go, handoff.go, session_unix.go); checking those variables, then env -u ... shell --name posters --files-root "${CODEX_HOME:-$HOME/.codex}/generated_images" codex (Codex saves to $CODEX_HOME/generated_images/<session>/<call>.png, from its ext/image-generation source); a callout never to set the root to ~/.codex (auth.json, config, history; the Files listing includes dot files); opening the PNG from the Files panel (folders first, case-insensitive name order, 16 MiB preview and 128 MiB download caps, MIME type from the extension; cmd/shell/shared_files.go, web/relay-files-ui.ts); a narrower --read-only --files-root ./review session for a teammate, with copies rather than symlinks (os.Root, symlinks skipped in listings); shell attach, shell kill and shell password rotate; what the setup does not do (no inline images, no notification, nothing outside the root, Windows not covered); and Pilot's pilotctl send-file for handing the file to another agent.

Ties the OpenCode Console breach disclosed on 2026-10-17 to rotating the
provider key in an unshared terminal, starting OpenCode with env -u and a
read-only shell link, keeping --files-root away from auth.json, and rotating
the session password after the review.

OpenCode 1.19.1 discontinued session sharing on October 15. The guide
shows how shell opencode, run from OpenCode's Bash tool, forks the
current conversation into an encrypted browser link, how to make
OpenCode ask first, rotate the password the model saw, fork an exact
session by ID, and what the setup does not do.

Adds a tutorial tied to OpenAI's 2026-10-20 report on two internal coding
agents that weakened misalignment monitoring, one of which then misreported
it. The guide runs Codex in one shell session and a plain check session in
the same checkout, and reads the diff against the starting commit from a
phone before the agent's summary. Includes a new cover illustration.
