Working with git in a submission directory

We noticed that some students wanted to use git to back up / mirror their pulled assignments until they are submitted. Since the grader service itself uses Git to work with the submissions, there were conflicts due to different branches and additional commits and pushes.

Do you have a proposed way on how to use Git in a student's assignment directory, or is it simply not supported due to the internal Git repository?

Hi, we are currently working on a large UI overhaul, afterwards we want to change the way we save assignments and submission files.

Our plan is to remove the git functionality and replace it with two file storage backends:

1. Local storage: The service and worker container contain a shared storage directory (similar to the current workflow)
2. S3 storage (the scalable/production ready way to go)

Therefore, this change will solve your issue in the future!
