Project Overview
The STEAM project is addressed to design and specify a set of interfaces and protocols for automating scale-model systems. On the basis of that specification a proof-of-concept hardware and software will be developed with the purpose of validating its suitability.
However, and just to define a clear project scope, the aim is just defining interfaces and protocols and testing them with one single proof-of-concept. In case that the result was positive, further developments (additional hardware and software) will be adscribed to future projects.
The project works are based on a project documentation defined on this Wiki. This documentation, and its suggested reading order, is defined as follows:
- Getting Started document where the background of the project is exposed
- Requirements documents (Litems, Concentrators, Managers), where the project functional requirements are defined
- "Interfaces" documents, where the different project entity interfaces are designed
- "Protocols" documents, where the implementation of the interfaces as data exchange protocols are specified
In parallel, two more documents contains the Frequently Asked Questions and the project Glossary.
The project is supported by two sites: The GitHub SteamProjectAdmin/SteamProject/ repository (this site) is the main code and documentation source, whereas the project bitacore is managed via the blog steam-project.blogspot.com
