Removes the experimental tablassert agent pipeline, the GEPA prompt-optimization surface, and the
distillation dataset export/weigh surface, plus their extras, tests, examples, and every documentation
mention. The stable core pipeline (build-kg, validate, validate-kgx, validate-infores,
build-fullmap, quick-map) is untouched.

Removed surfaces

  • Agent pipeline: src/tablassert/agent.py and the tablassert agent CLI command (supervisor loop, PMC fetching, config derivation, judge/reflexion improvement, checkpoint state, TABLASSERT_AGENT_* env vars).
  • GEPA optimization: the --optimize flag family, the [optimize] extra (dspy), and examples/agent/ (GEPA dataset plus optimized-instruction artifacts); the now-empty examples/ directory is gone.
  • Distillation: src/tablassert/distill.py, src/tablassert/distill_reward.py, the tablassert distill-export and tablassert distill-weigh commands, and the [distill] extra (datasets).
  • Graph target helper: src/tablassert/graph_target.py, which only the agent command consumed.
  • Extras registry: drops agent / optimize / distill from pyproject.toml and src/tablassert/extras.py; extras.require_module and _FALLBACK_EXTRA go too, since only the agent's dynamic lazy imports ever called them.
  • Error codes: removes the agent-only llm-transient (LlmTransientError) and reward-config-invalid (RewardConfigError); network-transient, error_code_of, and redact_secrets stay (net.py and the CLI still use them).
  • Tests: deletes the 30 agent/distill/graph-target/example test modules and the tests/agent_fixtures/ + tests/fixtures/edgecount/ trees; trims the agent/distill cases from the CLI, extras, errors, net, and docs-guardrail suites.

Docs

  • docs/agent.md and its mkdocs.yml nav entry removed; docs/cli.md (nine -> six subcommands), docs/installation.md, docs/index.md, README.md, and llms.txt no longer mention the agent, GEPA, or distillation.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md drops the examples/ layout row; the docs layout guard no longer requires that path.
  • CHANGELOG.md history is left untouched: past release notes describe shipped versions as they were.

Breaking change

  • pip install "tablassert[agent]" / [optimize] / [distill], the tablassert agent, tablassert distill-export, and tablassert distill-weigh commands no longer exist. The next release must bump the major version.

Testing

  • uv lock --check -> resolved, in sync
  • uv run ruff check . and uv run ruff format --check . -> all checks passed
  • uv run pyright -> 0 errors, 0 warnings
  • uv run pytest -> 1205 passed, 1 skipped (the pre-existing opt-in corpus-sweep skip)
  • cargo fmt --check, cargo clippy --all-targets -- -D warnings, cargo test -> pass (156 Rust tests)
  • uv run mkdocs build --strict -> builds clean
  • uv run tablassert --help -> renders exactly the six remaining subcommands

…tion surfaces

BREAKING CHANGE: the tablassert agent command, the distill-export and
distill-weigh commands, and the [agent], [optimize], and [distill] extras
no longer exist. The stable core pipeline (build-kg, validate,
validate-kgx, validate-infores, build-fullmap, quick-map) is unchanged.

Removes src/tablassert/agent.py, src/tablassert/distill.py,
src/tablassert/distill_reward.py, and src/tablassert/graph_target.py
(agent-only), the three CLI commands, the extras registry entries, the
agent-only error codes (llm-transient, reward-config-invalid), the agent
tests and fixtures, the examples/ agent walkthrough, and every mention
of the agent, GEPA, and distillation surfaces from the documentation
(README, docs/, mkdocs.yml, llms.txt, CONTRIBUTING.md). CHANGELOG
history is left as the record of past releases.

Cut 20.0.0 and bump the package version in pyproject.toml, CITATION.cff,
and uv.lock.

Major: two breaking changes and one feature ship since 19.7.0. The
experimental agent pipeline, the GEPA prompt-optimization surface, and
the distillation dataset export/weigh surface are removed, including
the `tablassert agent` / `distill-export` / `distill-weigh` commands,
the `--optimize` flag family, the `[agent]`/`[optimize]`/`[distill]`
extras, and the agent-only error codes (#215). The QC embedding stage
now runs RenaissanceComputing's Babel-fine-tuned SapBERT checkpoint
with its own `.tablassert/sapbert-babel/` cache dir (#214). `build-kg`
gains the opt-in `--linkouts`/`-lo` flag for EdgeLinkouts edge deep
links (#216).

Changelog:
- Versioned the 20.0.0 section with Breaking Changes and Added entries,
  PR links, and a migration note for the removed surfaces.

Docs: CHANGELOG.md, CITATION.cff, and pyproject.toml only; the merged
PRs carried their own docs updates.

Testing:
- make check -> exit 0 (ruff check, ruff format --check, pyright,
  cargo fmt, cargo test, clippy -D warnings)
- uv run pytest -> 1209 passed, 1 skipped in 21.28s
- uv lock --check -> resolved, in sync
- docs guards -> 192 passed
