How to compile the .a file and the runner

Because i managed to get earthbound halloween hack recomped but i dont know how to get it into a runnable termux proot-distro linux file

Thanks — I misunderstood “patched” earlier: you meant that you applied the ROM hack, not that you patched SNESRecomp’s Linux code.

Your screenshot shows the intended successful result. libsnesrecomp_game.a is a static library containing generated CPU code, not a runnable game. There is no missing linker command or generic runner binary: a playable port still needs game-specific configuration and validation, plus a host application for ROM loading, video, audio, and input. Termux/proot is also not currently a tested full-host target.

I landed bbaf252 to make this distinction clearer:

• The CLI now says that the expected result is a static library only.
• The generated build scripts repeat that explanation after a successful build.
• The generated README highlights that host integration is still required.

This should make it much easier to tell “the generated code built successfully” from “the playable native port is complete.” If you want to pursue a full EarthBound Halloween Hack port, that would be a separate game-port project; I can help scope the next steps from configuration and build logs without needing the ROM.

I never used this recomp before so i might need some help i only know how to get the .a file please help me of this of dolrecomp and moderngekko sets the games of wii and gamecube games of moderngekko and dolrecomp for you so please help me set this up for the linux excutable please

Thanks for trying SNESRecomp.

The short version is: the generated .a file is not a runnable game by itself. The current SNESRecomp CLI/build flow produces generated C code and a static library. Turning that into a playable native port still requires a game-specific host/runner integration: windowing, input, audio, save handling, ROM validation, project CMake setup, and testing for that particular game.

So the supported path is:

1. Use snesrecomp.exe build --rom ... --output ... to generate the project.
2. Run the generated build.ps1 or build.sh.
3. Use the resulting static library as part of a game-specific native host.

I do not currently support Termux/proot-distro packaging as an official target, and I also do not maintain DolRecomp or ModernGekko, so I cannot provide support for their runners or build systems here.

This issue tracker is best for reproducible SNESRecomp issues, such as a specific CLI command failing, generated C not compiling, or a supported mapper/runtime behavior being wrong.
