Scans Claude Code release notes between the tracked baseline version and the installed version for keywords matching our integration surface (hooks, statusline, transcripts, claude -p flags). Runs a contract smoke test against claude -p. Reports matches for manual review.

Pull request overview

This PR adds an upstream compatibility checking tool to help detect breaking changes in Claude Code releases. The script compares the installed Claude Code version against a tracked baseline, scans GitHub release notes for keywords related to the plugin's integration surface (hooks, statusline, transcript handling, CLI flags), and runs a contract smoke test using claude -p.

Changes:

  • Added scripts/check-upstream.mjs: A development utility that checks for potentially breaking upstream changes
  • Added npm script compat to run the compatibility checker
  • Added .compat-baseline file to track the last verified compatible Claude Code version (2.1.44)

When no .compat-baseline exists and --update is passed,
create a fresh baseline instead of erroring. The error
message previously told users to run --update but then
hit the same exit path.
