mkvmvc2sbs is a tool for converting MKV files with MVC video into SBS format. The video stream is converted from MVC to SBS format. This doubles the video dimension horizontally. Subtitles in PGS/SUP format are extracted and saved as PGS/SUP files. As PGS/SUP is an image format, their horizontal dimensions are doubled as well. Additionally, subtitles in supported languages are converted into text via optical character recognition (OCR). Recognized subtitles are saved in SubRip (SRT) format.
Converted tracks are saved beside the original file with the appropriate file extensions suitable for the contained track format.
The saved tracks can be merged into a single MKV file, e.g. with mkvtoolnix. This last step of re-muxing should eventually also be performed automatically. Nevertheless, this has not yet been implemented.
The Converter requires the following libraries to be installed at runtime.
- gcc or clang
- GNU make
- pkg-config
- edge264-mvc with one additional function to reach timing information. This library has been forked to accommodate the neccessary function.
- uncrustify for fixing code style.
- reuse for managing license information in all files.
- doxygen for building the development documentation.
Prerequesites can be installed via the package manager of your distribution, e.g.
pacman -S libebml libmatroska tesseract tesseract-data-eng tesseract-data-deu ...
On Arch Linux, the recommended packages are
- core/gcc
- core/make
- core/pkgconf
- extra/clang
- extra/doxygen
- extra/ffmpeg
- extra/libebml
- extra/libmatroska
- extra/libpng
- extra/reuse
- extra/tesseract
- extra/uncrustify
Additional possible packages for OCR language support
make -j all
For selection of compiler, the project can also be built with
make -j gnu (GCC) or make -j llvm (clang)
