output_schema, so structured-output configurations silently become free-form
text. In google_aistudio.py at lines 442–468, forward output_schema using the
Interactions structured-output field or return a warning or error when it is
present; apply the same change in google_gcp.py at lines 503–520, sharing a

Google GCP provider so BYOK auth fields cannot be combined with platform
credentials. When credentials supplies an api_key or sa_key, use only its auth
fields; for an SA key, resolve project_id from the credential row or parsed
service-account info before falling back to platform settings. Add tests
covering BYOK api_key with platform SA credentials and BYOK sa_key with a
platform project ID.

We can directly annotate the variable as interaction: Interaction = self.client.interactions.create(...) instead of using cast(). This keeps the type annotation simple and avoids an unnecessary cast().

Since this interaction creation logic is duplicated throughout the file, can we create a single reusable function that accepts parameters like type, adjusts the input structure accordingly, and returns the Interaction object? What do you think?

yes I was of the same opinion. Not sure why Claude prefers cast. Will update that. Thakns for flagging it

we can have this mapped dict at the top level, where key would status code and the value would be the message, this way it would look clean and easily manageable. just a suggestion

🌐 Web query:
official Vertex AI Gemini Interactions API supported models Gemini 2.5 thinking_level
💡 Result:
**Short answer:** The official Interactions API docs list `gemini-2.5-pro`, `gemini-2.5-flash`, and `gemini-2.5-flash-lite`; the thinking guide says all three support `thinking_level` values `low`, `medium`, and `high`. ([ai.google.dev](https://ai.google.dev/api/interactions-api?authuser=5&hl=en&utm_source=openai))
However, those pages describe the **Gemini API**, not Vertex AI. I couldn’t verify from the official Vertex AI sources that the Interactions API endpoint is supported on Vertex AI, so don’t assume that model support or the `thinking_level` parameter carries over to Vertex AI. The closest Vertex AI source confirms those Gemini 2.5 models are available there, but does not establish Interactions API support. ([cloud.google.com](https://cloud.google.com/vertex-ai/generative-ai/docs/learn/models?authuser=5&utm_source=openai))

🌐 Web query:
site:cloud.google.com/vertex-ai "Interactions API" "Gemini 2.5" supported not supported
💡 Result:
Google Cloud’s model pages list the **Interactions API as not supported** for Gemini 2.5 models, including **Gemini 2.5 Pro, Flash, and Flash-Lite**. ([docs.cloud.google.com](https://docs.cloud.google.com/gemini-enterprise-agent-platform/models/gemini/2-5-pro?utm_source=openai))
So, according to those pages, Gemini 2.5 models aren’t available through the Interactions API; the pages list the GenerateContent API as supported. ([docs.cloud.google.com](https://docs.cloud.google.com/gemini-enterprise-agent-platform/models/gemini/2-5-pro?utm_source=openai))
Citations:
- 1: https://docs.cloud.google.com/gemini-enterprise-agent-platform/models/gemini/2-5-pro?utm_source=openai
- 2: https://docs.cloud.google.com/gemini-enterprise-agent-platform/models/gemini/2-5-pro?utm_source=openai
Do not send gemini-2.5-pro through Vertex Interactions API.
GoogleGCPProvider._execute_stt defaults to gemini-2.5-pro and passes it to self.client.genai.interactions.create(...). Google Cloud lists the Interactions API as unsupported for Gemini 2.5 Pro. The default GCP text and TTS models are different, so this issue is specific to the 2.5 model path.
Route Gemini 2.5 models through models.generate_content, or change the GCP STT default to a Vertex model that supports the Interactions API. Omitting thinking_level alone does not resolve the unsupported API call.
