# Mini Vulnerability / Port Scanner
A Python-based TCP port scanner built for cybersecurity learning and authorized security testing.
## Current Features
- Scans TCP ports on a target IP address
- Supports user-defined starting and ending ports
- Detects open TCP ports
- Displays scanning progress
- Returns detected open ports as a list
- Tested against `127.0.0.1`
- Supports both IP addresses and domain names
- Resolves domain names to IP addresses
- Retries invalid target input
- Validates port numbers from 1–65535
- Handles non-numeric port input
- Ensures the ending port is not smaller than the starting port
## Requirements
- Python 3
- No external Python packages required
## Usage
Run the program with:
```bash
python port_scanner.pyEnter:
- The target IP address
- The starting port
- The ending port
Example
Enter target IP address: 127.0.0.1
Enter starting port: 1
Enter ending port: 1000
The scanner will check each TCP port in the selected range and report the open ports.
Use this tool only against systems you own or systems for which you have explicit authorization to perform security testing.
The scanner supports both IP-address and domain-name targets, with retry-based input validation for targets and port ranges.
- Improved scan output
- Service detection
- Additional security checks
