What this adds

Adds a standalone GitHub Status widget that shows the overall service state and GitHub's public components. Components marked by Statuspage as only_show_if_degraded stay hidden while healthy.

Setup

No account, token, or environment variable is required. The widget uses GitHub's public summary.json endpoint; the included example uses a five-minute cache.

- type: dynawidgets
  widget: github-status-components
  title: GitHub Status
  cache: 5m

Notes

The heading links to GitHub Status, and status colours follow the active Dynacat theme. The official 24px GitHub wordmark lockup is selected via Dynacat's data-scheme light/dark theme state. No extra asset or font hosting is required. Updated dark/light catalog screenshots are included. Validated with current Dynacat 3.0 and the repository validator.

Updated the header to the official GitHub Invertocat + wordmark lockup, at 24px high. It switches between white and black using Dynacat’s active data-scheme, independently of the OS/browser theme. The SVGs are embedded, so no extra asset hosting is needed; status logic is unchanged.

The artwork comes from the GitHub Brand Toolkit and is used to identify/link to GitHub Status under its permitted logo-use guidance. GitHub retains the logo’s copyright and trademark rights; this is not an open-source font licence for the logo.

The wordmark is outlined SVG artwork, so no font is added. Other text inherits Dynacat’s font. GitHub’s brand typefaces are Mona Sans and Mona Sans Mono, available under SIL OFL 1.1, separately from the logo terms.

CI note: this widget passes validation. The upstream run also fails on an existing missing preview directory in random-dog and a changed-file check that lists unrelated paths; the PR file list remains confined to github-status-components.

OK, I've rebuilt the widget a bit, I can see in some dark themes it wasn't looking good at all. This new one should look much better.

You'd also have to embed the svg into the code and not put it into a separate directory.

Confirmed, the SVGs are embedded in template.txt, the standalone logo files are removed, previews remain in images/, and widget validation passes. No duplicate reply was present after commit f222db0e734d97d4579dee423df91bcd824df92e.
