feat(jsonforms-renderers): View for browser-viewable files, Download named by x-file.fileName - #95
Conversation
When set, FileControl labels the row and downloads on View under that
template ({index} is 1-based), so trader and officer see the same
meaningful name instead of a storage key / generic label.

{index}.If
x-file.fileNamehas no{index}placeholder, every row renders the same label. Every View download then uses the same filename. Browsers will then save the files asname (1),name (2), and so on. This is acceptable only if schema authors always include{index}formaxFiles > 1. Document this requirement in the README and in theXFileOptionscomment. The
fileEntriesconstant is also used indisplayNameForbefore itsconstdeclaration on line 87. This works only because the function runs after render. MovedisplayNameForbelow theuseStatedeclarations to avoid a temporal-dead-zone risk if someone calls it earlier.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Thanks for this. Giving the trader and officer the same meaningful name fixes a real problem, and reusing renderFileName and pulling out downloadBlob is the right direction.
The main concern is that fileName currently changes what View does for every file type, not only the label. With it set, images and PDFs, and the print-ready HTML documents coming in OpenNSW/nsw-srilanka#581, get saved to disk instead of opening in a tab. I've written up a design that keeps View for files a browser can display and adds a Download icon named by the template: #99. Could you rework this PR to follow it? The issue's layers can be separate PRs if that's easier.
Companion schema: with the extension now taken from the file, the one-trade-artifacts change becomes "fileName": "DC BAGS DETAILS _{index}" (no .xlsx).
Blocking: (1) the View/Download split, (2) showing View/Download errors where they can be seen, (3) moving the fetch/download chain out of the renderer. The rest are suggestions and nits.
Tests: the only new test covers downloadBlob. FileControl.test.tsx needs cases for the templated label and its fallback, View hidden or shown by type, Download through both the local blob and getDownloadUrl (the officer path), and a visible error on failure. The full list is in #99. The test plan checklist in the description is also still unticked.
… x-file.fileName Split View from Download per #99 so naming no longer forces a save for images, PDFs, and HTML. Extract file helpers and downloadFromUrl, surface per-row errors, and document CORS plus base-name indexing. Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
Take main's README and move FileControl docs to docs/file-control.md. Also cover remaining review notes: deferred blob URL revoke, row-error helpers, one download name per row, and View coverage tests. Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>

Thanks, this addresses everything from my last review. There are two small docs fixes inline, plus one optional test cleanup. I'll approve once the uischema.options line is corrected.
Also use fake timers for deferred downloadBlob revoke in tests. Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>

Approving. All review comments are addressed, and the change matches #99.
I've updated the PR title and description to describe the View/Download split, since the old text described View downloading and would have ended up in the squash commit and release notes. @ginaxu1, please tick the manual DC bags check once you've confirmed it.
Summary
FileControl's View opened every file in a new tab, so files a browser can't display (xlsx, docx, csv) were saved under the opaque storage key, and a saved form showed "Uploaded File" instead of a meaningful name. This adds an optional
x-file.fileNamebase name and separates looking at a file from saving it:x-file.fileName(e.g.Attachment_{index}→Attachment_1.xlsx), with the file's real extension appended.Without
fileName, rows keep their original name and Download uses the original name or the storage key.Closes #99. Related: LSFLK/lsf-govtech-tnsw#175 (item 5).
