What this changes

Adds check-only firmware manifest entries for Cooler Master MM710, MM711, and MM720 gaming mice so OpenMouse's FirmwareCard can report firmware version status, release notes, and vendor software links.

Changes

  • Hand-maintained entries (scripts/firmware-manifest.extra.json):
    • Adds coolermaster-mm710 (PID 0x0100, interfaceId 2516_0100, v1.05.00).
    • Adds coolermaster-mm711 (PID 0x0101, interfaceId 2516_0101, v1.05.00).
    • Adds coolermaster-mm720 (PID 0x0104, interfaceId 2516_0104, v1.04.00).
    • Sets required: false and points downloadUrl to https://masterplus.coolermaster.com/.
  • Public manifest (public/firmware-manifest.json):
    • Merged new entries alphabetically by id.
  • Test coverage (src/device/firmware-updates.test.ts):
    • Adds test verifying getDfuInfo interfaceId matching, outdated version detection (1.04.00 < 1.05.00), and up-to-date detection (1.05.00).

Verification

  • Ran npm run check:
    • tsc --noEmit passed with 0 errors.
    • Production Vite bundle built cleanly within budget.
    • All 515 tests passed with 0 failures.

Note

Add check-only Cooler Master MM710, MM711, MM720 firmware entries

Adds manifest entries for the MM710 (2516_0100) and MM711 (2516_0101) at version 1.05.00, and the MM720 (2516_0104) at 1.04.00. Entries are check-only (optional update) with MasterPlus+ download URLs and release notes, in firmware-manifest.json and the extra manifest. A test in firmware-updates.test.ts verifies MM711 version matching behind 1.05.00. Behavioral Change: these devices now report a firmware update as available.

Walkthrough

The firmware manifests add optional firmware entries for the Cooler Master MM710, MM711, and MM720. A test verifies MM711 version matching and update availability.

Changes: Cooler Master firmware entries

Layer / File(s) Summary
Add Cooler Master manifest entries
public/firmware-manifest.json, scripts/firmware-manifest.extra.json
Both manifests add optional entries for the MM710, MM711, and MM720 with interface IDs, firmware versions, and the MasterPlus+ URL. The extra manifest also includes latest-stable-release notes.
Check MM711 firmware availability
src/device/firmware-updates.test.ts
The test checks that version 1.04.00 has an update to 1.05.00 with the configured URL, and that version 1.05.00 has no update available.

The optional firmware entries have a bounded regression-coverage gap: the MM711 test does not validate the shipped data. This is suitable for follow-up; no current firmware-status failure is established.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at 06acaef

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Adds optional firmware update guidance for three Cooler Master models, with an MM711 version-comparison test. The entries use device-specific matching and a user-initiated vendor website link, without adding firmware flashing behavior.

Add a test that loads the shipped MM711 manifest entry.

The MM711 test checks an inline copy of the entry. No test reads public/firmware-manifest.json, the file that loadFirmwareManifest fetches at runtime. A wrong or missing interfaceIds, latestVersion, or downloadUrl in the shipped coolermaster-mm711 entry would not fail the suite.

Load public/firmware-manifest.json in a test, find the coolermaster-mm711 device, and run the same getDfuInfo assertions against that entry. Keep the inline fixture for the logic cases.

⚠️ Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

The MM711 entry has no firmwareName, so getDfuInfo uses currentFirmwareVersion(device.firmware) rather than selecting a named mouse-firmware component. If these devices report multiple firmware components, it may compare the wrong component with 1.05.00; MM710 and MM720 have the same structure.

FirmwareCard may say the mouse is current when its firmware is outdated, or offer an update when it is current.

This can occur when: An MM711 reference contains both a current dongle version and an older mouse version in its firmware array.
