Document the 18,000-byte preview-fixtures allowance in the README.

The README states a flat JavaScript limit of 3,240,000 bytes. build/check-bundle-size.ts enforces that limit only when no preview-fixtures-* asset exists in dist/assets. When such an asset exists, the checker allows 3,258,000 bytes. A production build can pass npm run size with a JavaScript total the README describes as over budget.

Correct the README: the add dialog has no running-app picker and rejects executable names.

The README at lines 79-81 says that Add game or app lets users "choose a running app or enter an executable name/full path." The add flow does not provide either option as written:

  • The running-app picker does not exist in the add flow. GamesPage opens only LocalApplicationDialog from its Add button. GameRequestDialog, which contains the running-app picker, has no importer in src, so it is not mounted.
  • A filename-only entry cannot be saved. The dialog enables Save only when the parsed target has a path, and a bare filename parses to an empty path. Users who follow the README and enter only an executable name get a disabled Save button and an "invalid" hint.

A full executable path still works. Only the two documented alternatives are unavailable.

Either implement the two documented options, or change the README to describe the full-path entry that the dialog supports. The README also says that a filename matches any executable with that name (README lines 84-88). Remove or correct that statement together with the first sentence, because the add flow cannot create a filename-only entry.

Review comment at @README.md around lines 79 - 81:
Update the README description of “Add game or app” to state that users enter a
full executable path; remove the unsupported running-app picker and
executable-name options. Correct or remove the following claim that
filename-only entries match executables, so the documentation consistently
reflects the full-path-only add flow.

local config, not sent to OpenMouse for approval. They survive catalog refreshes
and Bridge restarts. Adding/editing/removing an entry does not require a mouse.

Choose Game to keep its profile while the process runs, including after
alt-tabbing. Choose App for foreground-only switching. A full executable path
matches that installation only; a filename matches any executable with that
name. Foreground matching on Linux requires X11. Local profiles retain the
existing native/full-settings limits: Bridge can apply supported DPI/polling
settings with the browser closed; the control panel must remain open to apply
and restore full device-settings snapshots.

Local targets use stable IDs, not display names, so a target can be renamed or
share a name with an OpenMouse preset without losing or confusing its settings.
Removing a local target also removes its linked mouse profiles; clearing its
mouse settings leaves the target available. Older Bridges show update guidance
rather than falling back to a public game request.

Reject empty embed-field names and values before the webhook call.

text() in functions/_lib/feedback-payload.js checks only the type and maximum length. An empty string passes. The field name and value checks call text() with a maximum and no minimum, so { name: "", value: "details" } passes validation. The payload.embeds?.length check only confirms that an embed exists. The request is then sent to Discord. Discord rejects the empty required field with a 400 response, and functions/api/feedback.js maps every non-OK webhook response to 502 Discord rejected the feedback. The client receives a 502 for input that the server could reject as 400.

## How do you send a Discord embed?

Embeds are the coloured cards most bots post. One message can hold up to 10:

    `{
      "username": "Deploy bot",
      "embeds": [
        {
          "title": "Deploy failed: api v2.14.0",
          "url": "https://ci.example.com/runs/4821",
          "description": "Migration `0042_add_invoices` timed out after 300 s.",
          "color": 15548997,
          "fields": [
            { "name": "Environment", "value": "production", "inline": true },
            { "name": "Commit", "value": "`9f3c2ab`", "inline": true }
          ],
          "footer": { "text": "CI run 4821" },
          "timestamp": "2026-09-30T09:14:00.000Z"
        }
      ]
    }`

Two fields trip people up. `color` is a decimal integer, not a hex string: `#ED4245` (Discord’s red) is `15548997`, `#57F287` (green) is `5763719` and `#5865F2` (blurple) is `5793266`. Sending `"#ED4245"` gives a `400`. `timestamp` must be an ISO 8601 string; Discord shows it in each reader’s local time zone.

Discord enforces limits on every part of an embed:

In addition to ensuring your app validates security-related request headers at the time of saving your endpoint, Discord will also perform automated, routine security checks against your endpoint, including purposefully sending you invalid signatures.

Each webhook is sent with the following headers:

  * `X-Signature-Ed25519` as a signature
  * `X-Signature-Timestamp` as a timestamp

Using your favorite security library, you must validate the request each time you receive an event. If the signature fails validation, your app should respond with a `401` error code. Code examples of validating security headers is in the Interactions documentation.

In addition to ensuring your app validates security-related request headers at the time of saving your endpoint, Discord will also perform automated, routine security checks against your endpoint, including purposefully sending you invalid signatures. If you fail the validation, we will remove your Webhook Events URL and alert you via email and System DM.

We recommend checking out our Community Resources and the libraries found there.

#### Adding an Webhook Events Endpoint URL

After you have a public endpoint to use as your app's Event Webhooks URL, you can add it to your app by going to your app's settings.

On the Webhooks page, look for the Endpoint URL field. Paste your public URL that is set up to acknowledge `PING` messages and correctly handles security-related signature headers.

After you configure your Webhook Events URL, you can enable and subscribe to events on the same page.

## Responding to Events

When your Webhook Event URL receives a webhook event, your app should respond with a `204` status code with no body within 3 seconds to acknowledge that your app successfully received it. If your app doesn't respond to the webhook event, Discord will retry sending it several times using exponential backoff for up to 10 minutes.

If your app fails to respond too often, Discord will stop sending you webhook events and notify you via email.

Validate the embed timestamp format before Date.parse.

Date.parse accepts non-ISO strings. The embed timestamp check in functions/_lib/feedback-payload.js only tests the result of Date.parse. A value such as "0" passes local validation. Discord documents the embed timestamp as an ISO8601 string, so the webhook can reject it. functions/api/feedback.js maps every non-ok webhook response to HTTP 502 with "Discord rejected the feedback.". A client that sends an invalid timestamp therefore receives a server-error status instead of a 400 validation error, and the feedback is not delivered.

Read request bodies only after the ban, Origin, exploit, and rate-limit checks.

Since this change, handle() buffers up to MAX_BODY_BYTES (8 MiB) of each request body before it runs any rejection check. boundedRequest runs at functions/_middleware.js:187, and the ban lookup runs at line 205. A banned client, an Origin-mismatched state-changing request, an exploit-pattern URL, or a rate-limited client therefore still has its body read into Worker memory first. This contradicts the file's own design note that middleware "returns before any origin work is done" (functions/_middleware.js:26-27).

Declared bodies over the limit are rejected from Content-Length before any read. The exposure is therefore limited to requests that declare a size at or under the limit, or that declare none. Those bodies are still read in full, with no timeout, before the checks run.

Move the header-only checks ahead of the body read. Keep the body read before every path that forwards to next, so downstream handlers still receive the buffered request.

Ordering to apply

Run the ban check, the static-subresource skip, the exploit check, the Origin check, and the Content-Length check on the original request. Then call boundedRequest immediately before each forward(). The rate-limit check uses only the method and IP, so it can run before the read as well. Keep the BodyTooLarge and Invalid body responses on the read path.

Count declared-length oversize POSTs as strikes before returning 413.

The boundedRequest catch in functions/_middleware.js returns tooLarge() before any strike. Before this change, a POST with a declared Content-Length above MAX_BODY_BYTES reached the strike branch that calls strike(kv, ip). The early return now skips that branch. Repeated oversized POSTs from one IP therefore no longer count toward STRIKES_TO_BAN, so they cannot escalate to a permanent ban through this path. This applies only when SECURITY_KV is bound. Other strike paths still work.

The Content-Length strike branch is now unreachable. boundedRequest throws for any length above the limit before the branch runs. Rebuilt requests also drop the header.

The early return does not change behavior for streamed oversized bodies without Content-Length. Those never produced strikes before this change.

Restore the strike for BodyTooLarge rejections on the path that declares the oversized length. Decide the scope first. A strike in the catch would also count streamed oversized bodies, which is a policy change. It could also overwrite an existing ban reason. Confirm the intended scope before adding the strike.
