The unified DPI editor dropped the per-slot Y control for Logitech mice. The driver and the slot plan already carry separate X and Y, so this puts it back.

  • Y column with a per-slot link button, like G HUB. Linked rows have Y following X.
  • Typed DPI snaps to the nearest advertised value, ties rounding up (1593 to 1590, 1595 to 1600). Before, an unadvertised value failed the flash.
  • Retyping the starting slot's DPI no longer moves the starting slot to slot 1.
  • Typing waits for a pause, or Enter or leaving the field. The slider keeps the short delay.
  • The up and down arrows step to the next advertised value, so a step to 1571 no longer snaps back and looks dead.
  • The slot editor no longer flips to the single view while a flash re-reads the profiles.

Typecheck and the 401 tests pass.

Verified on X3 Superstrike

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Logitech DPI slots support linked or independently adjustable X and Y sensitivity, with controls to switch modes.
    • DPI edits snap to the nearest available option. Typing changes apply after a brief pause; pressing Enter or leaving the field applies them immediately.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Onboard profiles read successfully after a profile-sector write are retained.
    • DPI stage selections are preserved by slot position when the stage count stays the same, or by matching X and Y values when it changes.

📝 Walkthrough

The changes update onboard-profile reload handling and DPI slot editing. DPI values snap to advertised options, and supported Logitech slots can edit separate linked or unlinked X and Y values.

Changes: Profile reload retention

Layer / File(s) Summary
Retain onboard profiles during reload
src/device/controller.ts
The staged profile-sector write clears cached profiles only if reloading fails. reloadOnboardProfiles returns whether the reload succeeded.

DPI slot editing

Change: Bug fix

Suggested reviewers: 7eedle

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to f8b66

Removing a slot can select the wrong starting slot when two remaining slots have identical X and Y DPI values. This is a narrow edge case; the change is mergeable with that limitation understood.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to f8b66

The changes remain bounded to editing connected-device profiles, with existing write restrictions preserved. No security regression was established, but asynchronous device replacement and recovery behavior are not fully verified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The demonstrated sensitive outcome is modification of the selected connected device’s onboard profile sector. The changed payload carries DPI axes, slot ordering, lift-off values, and default selection; the inspected path does not establish broader service, tenant, credential, or data-store authority.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — After failed post-write reload invalidates the profile cache, editedProfileEntry returns null. A later profile-write attempt then fails before the hardware sink, even if an old DPI plan remains in memory. Retained local state alone does not demonstrate an unauthorized physical write.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — A hardware-write exception leaves its pending batch available for retry. A successful hardware write followed by reload failure instead invalidates cached profiles and allows the completed batch to be removed. This is cache reconciliation, not a rollback of the device write.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Invalidate the profile cache if the post-write read fails.

If writeActiveProfile succeeds but readOnboardProfiles fails, reloadOnboardProfiles catches the error and leaves the old onboardProfiles in place. The flash runner then drops the pending slot change and rebuilds dpiSlotPlan from that stale list. A later slot edit writes the complete old table back with the new edit, which can undo the first write. Keep the list visible during the read, but prevent another edit from using it if the read fails. The driver validates and writes a complete stage plan. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Track the default slot by row when the slot count changes.

If two slots have the same X DPI but different Y DPI, removing an earlier row can move the former default to a later index. findIndex selects the first matching X value instead, so the mouse starts on the wrong X/Y slot after the write. Map the old default row through the enabled-row filter rather than identifying it by X value. defaultIndex selects a slot, not a DPI value. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Add a Y column with a per-slot link button, snap typed DPI to the advertised values (nearest, ties up), keep the starting slot when a value is retyped, wait for a pause while typing, step the arrows to the next advertised value, and keep the slot editor visible while a flash re-reads profiles.
