Product media only accept YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Instagram and Facebook video URLs. This module also accepts plain video files (mp4, webm, ...) hosted on your own server or on a CDN, and shows them in the product page with the browser's HTML5 player.
The media image is used as poster and nothing is downloaded until the visitor hits play. Autoplay, loop and hidden controls can be set through URL parameters, the same way Odoo does for the other platforms. Hosts serving videos from URLs without an extension (Cloudinary and the like) can be allowed in the settings.
Since it only depends on the URL, it also works for media created by imports or through the API.
The website pages counterpart is in OCA/website#1231.
