Updating

PhotoDock is released as a versioned Docker image on GitHub Container Registry: ghcr.io/mischa323/photodock:latest (and :<version>, e.g. :2.6.0).

Docker Compose

docker compose pull # fetch the new :latest image
docker compose up -d # recreate the container

Your data/ folder persists, so accounts, settings, photos and connections are kept.

Portainer

Stacks → your stack → Pull and redeploy (enable re‑pull image).

Pin a specific version

Change the image tag in your compose file to a release, e.g.:

image: ghcr.io/mischa323/photodock:2.6.0

Firmware (devices) is separate

Updating the server image does not update device firmware. See Adding a device → Updating firmware (OTA).

Where to see what changed

  • The dashboard shows the current version and changelog (Settings → version section).
  • GitHub Releases list each version's notes.

Before a major update

Back up the data/ folder (especially data.json and secret.key). If you ever lose secret.key, encrypted secrets can't be decrypted — you'd just reconnect cloud accounts and re‑enter passwords.
