SamFonts lets you change the font on your Samsung Galaxy device. You do not need to root your phone or use a computer to change how your text looks. This app builds font files and installs them for you on your device. It works well with Samsung One UI and keeps your system files safe.
Before you start, make sure your phone meets these needs:
- Your device must be a Samsung phone running One UI.
- You need to have the Shizuku app installed from the Google Play Store. Shizuku gives the app the permissions it needs to manage fonts on your system.
- You need a font file in either .ttf or .otf format on your phone storage.
Follow these steps to set up SamFonts on your device:
- Visit the releases page to download the latest version of the app.
- Tap the file ending in .apk once the download finishes.
- Your phone may ask for permission to install apps from unknown sources. Select Allow to proceed with the installation.
- Open the SamFonts app from your app drawer.
- Grant Shizuku permission when the app asks for it. This step is necessary to allow SamFonts to write font files to your system folder.
Once the app is running, follow this guide to create and apply a new font:
- Open the SamFonts dashboard.
- Select the plus button located at the bottom of the screen.
- Use the file picker to find your .ttf or .otf font file.
- Name your font package. This name will appear in your system settings later.
- Tap the Create button. The app will generate a font package tailored to your device.
- Select the Install button to move the file into the Samsung system directory.
- Restart your phone or go to Settings, then Display, then Font size and style to pick your new font from the list.
SamFonts does not change your system partition. It uses the standard Samsung font provider method to load your files. If you do not like a font, you can remove it easily:
- Open the SamFonts app.
- Go to the installed fonts list.
- Select the trash icon next to the font you want to remove.
- Go to your phone settings and switch back to the default font.
If the app fails to install a font, ensure Shizuku shows as running in the notifications bar. If Shizuku is not running, the app cannot send commands to the system. You can tap Start in the Shizuku app to fix this.
Do I lose my fonts after a system update? You might need to reinstall your font package after a major software update. The app makes this process fast.
Does this work on all Samsung devices? This tool works on most modern Samsung devices using One UI 8.5 or newer. If you have an older version of One UI, the app might not show all options.
Why does the app need Shizuku? Samsung protects system folders from third-party apps. Shizuku acts as a bridge. It allows SamFonts to perform system-level tasks without needing full root access to your device.
Is the app free to use? Yes, SamFonts is open-source software. You can find the code and all updates on GitHub at no cost.
How do I find new fonts? You can search the internet for .ttf or .otf font files. Once you download the file to your inner storage, SamFonts will find it automatically.
Does this change the font for every app? Yes, applying a font through this app changes the system-wide typography. This includes your settings menu, messages, and most apps on your phone.
Your data remains private while using SamFonts. The app does not collect personal information or track your font choices. All processing happens locally on your device. Use this tool with confidence to change your display aesthetics.
