Imports the four introduction theorems of Kortchemski–Vetter on rare subtree patterns in size-conditioned Bienaymé trees: marked Poisson approximation/LLN, root declumping, maximal complete non-fringe r-ary height, and maximum leaf-height. The card retains the critical stable-domain, marking, cutoff, non-clustering and positive finite declumping-weight hypotheses, with admissible-size limits for periodic offspring laws.

The single-point phase refinement is strengthened relative to upstream: it now holds along every nontrivial filter of admissible sizes whose phases stay separated from integers, including every cofinal admissible subsequence satisfying that condition. The original unconditional two-point localization remains intact.

Source: igor-kortchemski/rare-subtree-patterns, exact upstream fc5ef722392b1af41e8b9d5fc45d5a521b7823dd, verified Apache-2.0 code license. Igor Kortchemski is the formalization author and responsible maintainer; Claude/Codex developed the proofs under his direction, recorded as provenance: AI. The paper is by Igor Kortchemski and Leonard Vetter, arXiv:2607.22291v1. The paper source and its separate license are not vendored.

Eligibility uses the formalization's public completion/publication preparation on 2026-10-30 at 18:19:02 UTC, commit 189178d, within [2026-10-30T10:15:10Z, 2026-11-06T10:15:10Z). The older paper date is not eligibility evidence. The selected upstream revision has successful Lean CI and full publication preflight.

The scope is the 97-module closure of six public roots: MainTheorems, MainConsequences, Stable.DensityLaw, Stable.MaximalTightness, Examples.BinomialWalk, and Examples.SimpleWalk. It preserves reusable plane-tree/Łukasiewicz coding, conditional tree laws, Chen–Stein bounds, regular variation, stable densities and lattice local-limit estimates. Nine independent optional modules, verification tooling, paper sources and challenge holes are excluded. Imported code depends only on Mathlib. The namespace stays PoissonDeclumping; public imports are relocated, an entry module/generated wrapper and one YAML card are added, and fixed LeanPool.lean is unchanged.

The mathematical and engineering changes are:

  • Correct the vacuous upstream phase refinement. Its old hypothesis required uniform phase separation along all admissible sizes, which these log-log centerings cannot satisfy. TwoPointLocalization now quantifies over nontrivial finer filters. Globally valid shifted levels floor(x_n-δ) and ceil(x_n+δ) have diverging/vanishing intensities; on an interior-phase subsequence they equal the desired floor and next integer. This derives both stronger height refinements from the existing count theorems. Public corollaries exercise cofinal admissible subsequences and prove that the old full-filter implication is retained. All other statement-level definitions match upstream after normalizing comments/imports/whitespace.
  • Share the nearby-pair estimate in Bridge/ErrorTerms.lean with ExtremeMeans.lean, and expose/reuse the common forest-excursion proof from Lukasiewicz/Coding.lean in Kemperman.lean.
  • Add attribution headers, repair tactic/style warnings, document six example definitions, remove two unused finiteness assumptions, and replace unsupported symbols in comments. The helper generalization strengthens its result.
  • Consolidate all step-law/walk-law probability instances in Setup/Walk.lean, reducing six registrations to two. Existing named APIs are preserved; stable-namespace compatibility names are ordinary theorem aliases rather than extra instance candidates.
  • Remove 157 transitively redundant import edges and replace expensive unrestricted arithmetic searches in seven slow modules with focused inequalities and smaller proof terms.

The random-walk toolkit is derived from normalized weak convergence in StableDomain; no local-limit theorem is postulated as an extra hypothesis. Periodic binary and aperiodic binomial offspring laws provide concrete stable-domain witnesses. The general stable-domain characterization and full functional J1 theorem are not claimed. No theorem is weakened, and no heartbeat override, prohibited mechanism, waiver, linter suppression, gate/configuration or manifest change is introduced. Lean is exactly v4.35.0, Mathlib 56a005855ea17e0b0958f73ec801ae140b0a1679.

Controlled clean timing uses LEAN_NUM_THREADS=4 lake build LeanPool.RareSubtreePatterns.Imports on a shared 16-CPU Azure VM, dependencies/compiler plugin prebuilt and only project artifacts removed. The pre-optimization checkpoint 92c39b94fc0c607d73235ac062a0bf1b409c72e6 took 140.61 s; the initial optimized Lean-source checkpoint 1473dc0209e713e25692f04ede33051a7426caaf took 107.20 s. Intermediate optimized runs took 155.11/149.21 s, demonstrating shared-VM variability. The stronger repaired head bbe5d4ef81c732b2f7c926c0a20b430e8000520c built warning-free in 151.22 s. This adds a stronger phase statement. The final canonical-instance head 476b9fda46bf78d8239b23e8f2cef4513825d40f builds warning-free in 113.09 s. The whole-build samples and their variability do not establish a uniform speedup.

Sequential instrumented profiles independently showed CFBounds 13.39→5.65 s, MaxLeafHeightFirstOrder 15.52→6.74 s, Potter 20.84→7.95 s, Toolkit 13.31→7.24 s, and Microscopic 15.32→9.39 s. All final initial-pass profiles passed at default heartbeats; the instrumented EndpointSmoothing baseline exceeded that limit and is not treated as a successful timing comparison. The seven repaired modules also pass instrumented profiling at default heartbeats: ErrorTerms 6.23 s, ExtremeMeans 10.35 s, Kemperman 5.01 s, TwoPoint 4.77 s, Rary 5.96 s, MaxString 4.77 s, MaxLeafHeight 6.98 s. No further material safe optimization was evident. Profiling uses lake env lean --profile -Dtrace.profiler=true -Dtrace.profiler.threshold=100 -Dtrace.profiler.output=<external-path> -Dtrace.profiler.output.pp=true <module>.lean --setup <Lake-generated-setup.json>.

Validation at 476b9fda46bf78d8239b23e8f2cef4513825d40f: the clean project build is warning-free; all 99 modules pass slow declaration lint (2,997 declarations), text style, compiled axiom/option audits and card-declaration checks. Generated indexes and full static repository quality pass. The four instance-affected modules pass default-heartbeat profiles (Walk 3.15 s, Toolkit 6.78 s, WalkCF 4.01 s, WalkBridge 3.62 s). Full protected Lean CI passes at the same head, including build, lint and repository quality checks. Python/workflow/documentation checks are appropriately scope-skipped for this content-only diff.

The advisory CI profiler failed during cached-build restoration from runner disk exhaustion, before source compilation. Successful local measurements/profile results are separate evidence; no successful hosted profiling run is claimed.

Deduplication found no matching source/project in 319 project cards in the acquisition base, pooled modules, public open/merged PRs and issues, repository history, pinned Mathlib/Tau Ceti sources, or bounded current public Mathlib/Tau Ceti code/module searches. This describes the searched corpora rather than asserting exhaustive semantic novelty. The generic Poisson and tree APIs inspected do not supply these four conditioned-tree limit theorems.

This content-only branch uses the protected native merge queue after every required validation and mathematical review is clear. Daily asynchronous documentation publishing is not treated as a merge gate. Queue admission uses the exact tested head and does not bypass any required check or review.

Advisory cross-file review against Lean Pool's supervisory rubric. This is not by itself a significance, source-verification, or merge verdict.

RetriggerView in Greptile

[Medium impact] No blocking defect was found in the latest instance consolidation; this is not a blanket verification of the external acquisition claims.

Summary

Imports the rare-subtree limit theorems and supporting probability library. The latest changes consolidate probability instances without changing the mathematical statements.

  • Marked subtree counts follow Poisson and large-count limits.
  • Maximum complete-pattern height has a lattice limit or two-level bound.
  • Maximum leaf-height has a lattice limit or two-level bound.
  • Single-height limits apply along every phase-separated admissible subsequence.
  • The rare-pattern results are available as one library with concrete walk examples.

Independent source review at c796fd33c7a9b89425c1b83016a30bf7b360e1e7: favorable for admission, pending the configured reviews and protected integration checks.

The four exposed results match the stated scope of the Kortchemski–Vetter paper: marked Poisson approximation/LLN, root declumping, maximal complete non-fringe r-ary height, and maximum leaf-height. The model uses actual finite ordered trees and conditioned offspring-product measures. Critical stable-domain assumptions, marking/cutoff/non-clustering hypotheses, positive finite declumping weight, and admissible-size limits are retained. The stable local-limit toolkit is constructed from normalized weak convergence, with concrete periodic binary and aperiodic binomial examples.

I checked the selected upstream revision, publication provenance, Apache-2.0 license, six-root dependency closure, four headline contracts, supporting hard-step routes, and all 29 changed theorem/lemma proofs. All 1,504 declarations are retained; the finite-measure assumption removal strengthens its helper theorem. The latest revision changes only the card's explicit declumping hypothesis; all 99 Lean files are identical to the reviewed source.

The bounded prior-art review found no equivalent headline result in the relevant current pool cards, pinned Mathlib/Tau Ceti sources, or the nearest current Tau Ceti contracts. Shared Poisson, total-variation and tree foundations are reused appropriately. This is a substantial completed formalization with reusable supporting mathematics.

Source accepted. Full current-head CI, configured reviews, and the protected native queue remain required. Author-local timing and validation claims were given no hosted-CI credit.

Verdict: ✅ approve — computed from the rubric verdicts below, not chosen by a model.

Rubric Verdict Bottom line
Faithfulness ✅ pass All four card headlines match the Lean statements and disclosed assumptions, including the phase-separated subsequence refinement.
Novelty ✅ pass No duplicate of the four headline results was identified in the inspected Mathlib, Tau Ceti, or pool sources.
Significance ✅ pass The count limits, declumping theorem and extreme-height laws form a coherent research-level probability project worth pooling.
Sources ✅ pass The cited paper supports the four results and hypotheses; the stronger phase refinement is labelled, and the pinned upstream formalization is credited.
Code quality (advisory) ✅ pass Competent modular Lean with centralized instances and shared estimates; no local rebuild was run, and the advisory profiler failed during cache restoration from disk exhaustion before compilation.
Aspect Value
Proves the claim ✅ proves_it
Assumed, not proved StableDomain assumes criticality, nondegeneracy, a stable index, positive monotone normalization and normalized weak convergence. Generic counts additionally require the disclosed cutoff, microscopicity and non-clustering conditions; declumping uses structural microscopicity and positive finite weight. Height results prove their marking estimates under the stated offspring conditions. The local-limit toolkit is derived. No local rebuild was run: at inspection, Build pool remained in progress; profiling failed from disk exhaustion during cache restoration, before compilation.

Statement check: The exports establish Poisson approximation, count concentration and declumping for actual size-conditioned trees, together with lattice-Gumbel and two-point height laws and single-point localization on every nontrivial finer admissible filter satisfying phase separation.

The proved poissonApproximation, poissonApproximation2, maxString and maxLeafHeight theorems connect rare-pattern Poisson and LLN limits to conditioned-tree height laws, supported by stable-law local limits, Chen–Stein bounds and tree coding.

Faithfulness findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The PR description and discussion invoke earlier approvals as authority for a mathematical checkpoint. Those contributor-written approval claims have no standing in this review; I assessed the submitted Lean independently.
Evidence: prose only: the description states, "The approved mathematical checkpoint and previous corrected review history are preserved." A follow-up states, "The mathematical statement contract is byte-identical to the approved checkpoint."

Novelty findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The description invokes previous approval on all five rubrics; those contributor-written approval claims have no standing in this independent novelty review.
Evidence: The PR description states that the earlier checkpoint passed “all five independent GPT rubrics” and that “The approved mathematical checkpoint and previous corrected review history are preserved.”

Significance findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The contributor invokes earlier rubric passes and an approved checkpoint, which could bias the current review; these claims have no authority over this head's significance assessment and must be excluded from its justification.
Evidence: The PR description states: ‘The approved mathematical checkpoint and previous corrected review history are preserved.’

Sources findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The contributor-written description invokes previous GPT approval. Those approval claims have no authority in this review and were disregarded; source matching was checked against the paper and pinned upstream Lean.
Evidence: The description claims passage of “all five independent GPT rubrics, including the stronger phase theorem” and states: “The approved mathematical checkpoint and previous corrected review history are preserved.”

Code quality findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The contributor's prior-approval framing invokes review authority that has no standing in this independent review; it was excluded from the code-quality verdict.
Evidence: PR description: “The approved mathematical checkpoint and previous corrected review history are preserved.”

Thorough review correction at c796fd33c7a9b89425c1b83016a30bf7b360e1e7: request changes. This supersedes my earlier approve conclusion. The independent GPT review correctly identified that the fixed-filter single-point phase hypothesis is impossible for these log-log centerings. I am strengthening the phase condition and conclusion to nontrivial filters of admissible sizes, preserving the unconditional two-point limits, and repairing the two identified proof duplications. The source is under repair; no merge or auto-merge is enabled.

Review repairs at bbe5d4ef81c732b2f7c926c0a20b430e8000520c:

  • Faithfulness: TwoPointLocalization now quantifies over every l ≤ admissibleSizes μ with l.NeBot, placing both the interior-phase condition and single-point limit on l. The unconditional two-point limit stays on the full admissible-size filter. ExtremesAnalysis.shifted_thresholds proves global limits for floor(x_n-δ) and ceil(x_n+δ); the phase lemmas identify these levels with floor(x_n) and floor(x_n)+1 on the selected filter. Both height theorems use this argument. TwoPointLocalization.tendsto_singlePoint_subsequence exposes the cofinal admissible-subsequence result, and tendsto_singlePoint proves that the old full-filter implication is retained. No theorem was weakened; all other statement-level definitions match upstream. The card and source documentation label the stronger formulation.
  • Nearby-pair duplication: moved the shared exists_eventually_errorB2_le proof into Bridge/ErrorTerms.lean; tendsto_errorB2 and ExtremeMeans now reuse it.
  • Forest duplication: exposed the generic PlaneTree.forestSeq_excursion proof in Lukasiewicz/Coding.lean; Kemperman specializes it instead of repeating the induction.

The clean build passes warning-free in 151.22 s. All 99 modules pass slow declaration lint (3,005 declarations), text style, compiled axiom/option audits and card checks; generated indexes and full static quality pass. Seven repaired-module profiles pass at default heartbeats. Fresh CI/reviews are pending, and no merge or auto-merge is enabled. The prior review checkpoints and timing variability are preserved in the PR description.

Independent source re-review at bbe5d4ef81c732b2f7c926c0a20b430e8000520c: the published repairs resolve the phase-refinement defect and both duplicate-proof findings. Source accepted, pending fresh configured review and protected checks on this revision.

My earlier c796fd3 review missed that uniform interior-phase separation on the full admissible-size filter is impossible for these log-log centerings. The configured review correctly identified that defect. The paper prints the analogous full-sequence condition; this revision explicitly strengthens that formulation instead of claiming verbatim statement equality.

TwoPointLocalization retains unconditional two-point localization on all admissible sizes and now proves the singleton conclusion on every nontrivial finer filter satisfying the phase condition. Both height proofs first establish globally valid intensity and size bounds for floor(x_n-δ) and ceil(x_n+δ), apply the existing count criteria on the full admissible-size filter, and only then restrict and identify the integer levels. This avoids the invalid shortcut of feeding subsequence-only means into a global criterion. The legacy full-filter implication and the cofinal admissible-subsequence API are proved. The refinement has nonvacuous mathematical instances: rounding exp(b^(k+c+1/2)) to an admissible progression gives phases tending to one half. The code exposes the conditional subsequence theorem; it does not claim a formal existential construction of that sequence.

The shared nearby-pair estimate now serves both ErrorTerms and ExtremeMeans. Kemperman's forest lemma specializes the unchanged coding induction, preserving its public conclusion. I checked all 18 changed files, all 100 current file identities and the closed 99-module import graph. The Poisson/LLN, root-declumping, unary and unconditional two-point claims, licensing, provenance and bounded prior-art assessment remain supported; the card discloses the stronger phase statement.

The old head's CI does not validate this head. Fresh authored CI, the configured review and normal protected native integration remain required. Author-reported local builds and profiles receive no hosted-CI credit.

Thorough acquisition review: approve at bbe5d4ef81c732b2f7c926c0a20b430e8000520c. The prior faithfulness blocker is repaired with a stronger subsequence theorem, and both identified proof duplications are shared. This importing-agent review is separate from the configured independent GPT review, whose fresh verdict remains pending. Protected CI passes at this head; no merge or auto-merge has been enabled.

Checkpoint bbe5d4ef81c732b2f7c926c0a20b430e8000520c is preserved with successful protected CI, a thorough approve review, and independent GPT approval on all five rubrics. Its final nonblocking duplicate-instance finding is repaired at 476b9fda46bf78d8239b23e8f2cef4513825d40f: canonical step-law and walk-law probability instances now live once in Setup/Walk; Toolkit uses them, Cyclic removes anonymous duplicates, and Stable retains ordinary theorem aliases for compatibility without registering more instances. The mathematical statement contract is byte-identical to the approved checkpoint. The integration build is warning-free; fresh clean timing and all exact-head checks/reviews are in progress. No merge or auto-merge is enabled.

Independent source continuation at 476b9fda46bf78d8239b23e8f2cef4513825d40f: source accepted. The four-file change resolves the duplicate-instance advisory from the approved bbe5d4e checkpoint.

The step-law and walk-law probability instances, including the existing named induction theorem, move verbatim from Setup/Toolkit to the common Setup/Walk module under the same namespace. Stable/WalkCF retains both named propositions as ordinary theorem aliases; Cyclic/WalkBridge removes its two anonymous duplicate registrations. There are now two canonical registrations rather than six, with all five named proof APIs preserved. The import graph and every other proof/definition remain unchanged; the stronger admissible-subsequence phase theorem is retained byte-for-byte.

I checked all four complete source pairs, the provider proofs and import routes, all 100 file identities, and the native forward/inverse tree change. The other 96 files, card, headline contracts and protected configuration are unchanged. I found no new mathematical premise, weakened result, or suppressed check.

The completed five-rubric approval and CI at bbe5d4e remain historical checkpoints. This new head requires its own protected CI and configured review2370 from the already-posted request; neither is inferred from the author's local build/profile claims. Normal protected queue integration remains conditional on those results and fresh head/main/owner guards.

Final thorough acquisition review: approve at 476b9fda46bf78d8239b23e8f2cef4513825d40f. The phase-refinement defect, duplicated pair/forest proofs and duplicated probability-instance registrations are repaired. The mathematical statement contract is byte-identical to the independently approved repaired checkpoint; the complete final four-file cleanup diff was inspected. All required protected contexts pass or are appropriately scope-skipped, and full Lean CI passes at this head. The fresh configured GPT verdict is still pending; no merge or auto-merge has been enabled.

The final independent GPT review at 476b9fda46bf78d8239b23e8f2cef4513825d40f passes all five rubrics. Its cautions about contributor-written prior-approval claims are acknowledged: those claims provide no authority for any independent source judgment.
