closing this one. it was opened by the per-directory dependabot npm entry (/frontend or /backend), which only bumps that directory's package.json without updating the workspace root package-lock.json that ci runs npm ci against, so it fails install with "lock file's X does not satisfy Y". i fixed the dependabot config in #772 (root workspace entry only). once that merges, dependabot will re-propose the relevant bump from the root entry and it will install cleanly. not a problem with the bump itself.
