Move the agents platform onto the estate path #89

Open

Description

@ExtraToast

Parent

JorisJonkers-dev/deploy-kit#195

What to build

Move the agents platform (agents-api, agents-ui, the agent runtime) onto the estate path:

  • First model it: its project file in deploy-kit's vocabulary, including the Kubernetes API access agents-api needs under 0155, which slice 5 brings for machinery.
  • Then publish on a release tag, compose, and hand over from fleet-infra.

Acceptance criteria

  • The agents project composes with nothing refused.
  • A tagged release deploys through the estate path.
  • fleet-infra no longer delivers agents.

    Scope changed by the operator on 2026-10-23 (deploy-kit#373 decisions): agents-api, agents-ui and the agent runners are retired, not handed over. Their removal from fleet-infra is part of the hygiene work under estate#203. What this ticket still moves onto the estate path is Hermes (which must stop running as root, deploy-kit#399) and the kubernetes MCP server (cluster-scope read, deploy-kit#400), plus refresh-ping if it stays (#388). Parent is now estate#204.

    The retirement half is up for review, unmerged: JorisJonkers-dev/fleet-infra#531 removes agents-api, agents-ui and the runners from fleet-infra, and leaves Hermes and the kubernetes MCP server unchanged (their rendered objects are byte-identical). #92 and JorisJonkers-dev/agents-ui#107 add retirement notices; archiving is the operator's call. agents-refresh-ping was retired with the runners: it pinged their CLIs with the runner image and credential claims, Hermes does not use it, and it had been suspended since before the parking. If it should stay for #388, it is a revert of cluster/flux/apps/agents/refresh-ping/, and the claude-credentials / codex-credentials claims it reads are kept with pruning disabled.
