What

The release workflow now publishes the container image to Docker Hub (docker.io/instazdll/waveflow-server) as well as GHCR (ghcr.io/instazdll/waveflow-server), with the same tags and the same multi-arch manifest.

How

The workflow keeps its existing shape — native amd64/arm64 runners pushing by digest, then a manifest job — rather than switching to docker/metadata-action:

  • build: logs in to both registries and pushes each architecture by digest under both names from one build-push-action run ("name=ghcr…,docker.io…" in the image output). One build, one digest per architecture, present in both registries.
  • publish: logs in to both and runs a single docker buildx imagetools create with the version tag and the floating tag (beta / latest) for each registry. The manifest list is one object written under four tags, so both registries answer the same index digest. The job then reads both digests back with imagetools inspect and fails if they differ.
  • github-release: the release notes give a pull command for each registry.
  • The Docker Hub repository is spelled out in env.DOCKERHUB_IMAGE rather than derived from github.repository, because the GitHub owner and the Docker Hub namespace are separate accounts.

Docs: the README install section gets a table naming both registries (and states that 2.0.0-beta.1 and earlier are on GHCR only), the badge names both, and docker-compose.yml notes the Docker Hub name.

Before the next release tag

  • Create the Docker Hub repository instazdll/waveflow-server (public).
  • Create a Docker Hub personal access token with Read & Write scope.
  • Add two repository secrets on GitHub: DOCKERHUB_USERNAME (instazdll) and DOCKERHUB_TOKEN (the token).

Without the secrets, the build job fails at the Docker Hub login, before anything is pushed to either registry — deliberately, rather than publishing to one and announcing two.

Validation

  • actionlint .github/workflows/release.yml (v1.7.12, the latest release): clean except for queue: max on the publish job's concurrency, a key GitHub documents but this actionlint predates. CI does not run actionlint.
  • docker compose config -q: clean.
  • The release-notes printf was run locally and renders as intended.
  • Not exercised: the workflow itself only runs on a tag, so the two-registry push is proven by the next release, not by this PR's checks.

Summary by CodeRabbit

Each architecture is pushed by digest to both registries from the same
build, and one `imagetools create` writes the manifest list under every
tag in both, so a pull from either answers the same digest. The publish
job reads both digests back and fails if they differ.

Docker Hub is reached through the DOCKERHUB_USERNAME and DOCKERHUB_TOKEN
repository secrets, as docker.io/instazdll/waveflow-server. The release
notes, the README and the Compose file name both registries.

📝 Walkthrough

Changes: Publication multi-registre

Layer / File(s) Résumé
Construction et publication des images
.github/workflows/release.yml
.github/workflows/release.yml
.github/workflows/release.yml, README.md, docker-compose.yml

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 10498

A manual older-release dispatch can temporarily make Docker Hub’s beta tag point to an outdated image, although the issue is recoverable.

Before / after behavior

Full details: Title check

Explanation

Full details: Description check

Explanation

Comment thread .github/workflows/release.yml
The run's concurrency group is per tag, but the floating beta and latest
tags are shared by every release. Two releases publishing at once could
interleave their writes and leave a floating tag on one version in GHCR
and another on Docker Hub. The publish job now takes a group common to
every release; the builds still run in parallel.

Comment thread .github/workflows/release.yml
GitHub keeps one pending job per concurrency group by default, so a third
release arriving while one publish runs and another waits would cancel
the waiting one. queue: max keeps them all in line.
