docs(rfcs): propose RFC-012, the library browser - #297
Conversation
Folders as a view and filing as metadata. The browser shows a library as two trees: the disk as the scanner found it, read-only, and folders that exist only in WaveFlow, which owners and managers sort tracks into without any file being created, moved or deleted. RFC-002's read-only rule and RFC-008's "the file does not move" stand unchanged. Also specifies the track context menu and its properties panel, download as the stream ticket with an attachment header, uploaded .lrc/.txt/.ttml lyrics kept in a table beside the file, and the order of the six pull requests that implement it. - The Received folder is reached by its real path, .waveflow-managed, is flat, counts its tracks like any folder, and a tag change never moves a received track in the tree. - A folder move is checked for the depth of the whole sub-tree it carries, before anything is written. - A library holds at most 5,000 filed folders, which is what bounds the unpaged listing of the filed tree. - One fixed order picks the lyrics everywhere a single sheet is chosen: uploaded TTML, uploaded LRC, scanned synced, uploaded TXT, scanned plain; the lyrics download follows it, or names one upload with ?format=. - The root (parent_id null) is at depth 0, so the move check is deterministic for moves to the root. - The 5,000-folder cap bounds entries, not bytes, and holds under concurrency: count and insert in one transaction under the writer gate. - Placements are all or nothing, checked before any write. - A lyrics sheet with no usable content is refused at upload and skipped by the selection, which applies identically to clients, Properties and the default download. - Lyrics downloads are octet-stream attachments with nosniff, so an uploaded TTML is never rendered in the server's origin. Decision 3 already lets a listener browse both trees; the open question that hedged on the disk one is gone. Listeners read GET /libraries/{id}/tree?path= as owners do: the tree is only the paths every member already reads through the library's track listing, grouped.

GET /api/v2/tracks/{track_id}/lyricsest une route client existante de RFC-002. Sa projection littrack_lyricset trie les lignes partl.position. - SongItem carries every non-lyrics field of Properties; the lyrics and
each sheet's source come from the lyrics projection of decision 6, which
the panel merges in. The musical key, which SongItem does not carry, is
no longer listed.
- GET /api/v2/tracks/{id}/lyrics keeps its LyricsList shape and lists every
sheet in the precedence order, empty sources left out, so its first entry
is the selected sheet; the default download serves it. The Subsonic
lyrics methods stay as they are under the frozen contract.

Summary
Proposes RFC-012, the library browser, for review before any code.
The request: a file manager to see the music and its folders, folders of one's own to sort it into, a right click with a track's properties, upload and download from there, and the same for
.lrc,.txtand.ttmllyrics.The decision the RFC rests on: folders as a view, filing as metadata. Nothing on disk is created, moved, renamed or deleted. RFC-002's "audio files are always read-only" and RFC-008's "the file does not move" stand as they are.
Changes
docs/rfcs/RFC-012-library-browser.md, seven decisions:relative_path, read-only; Filed, folders that exist only in WaveFlow, editable.SongItemalready carries plusrelative_path; reachable by keyboard and long press.?download=1andContent-Disposition: attachment— no new ticket or read path.track_lyrics), original bytes kept, TTML parsed for lines, word timings stored but not served.Notes
Two questions left open on purpose: whether listeners see the disk tree, and whether the filed tree could ever be a Subsonic folder view (not under the frozen contract).
