The latest released version of hyperopt uses pkg_resources which was removed from setuptools in version 82.
This issue is fixed by jic-dtool/dtoolcore#37 however there is currently no release of hyperopt with this fix included.
Such a release has been requested here: hyperopt/hyperopt#943
