Because the best firewall is the one that rewrites itself before the attacker finishes typing.
SentinelWeave is an opinionated, event-driven remediation engine that watches the software supply chain like a lighthouse keeper watches a storm. Instead of waiting for a human to triage CVE feeds, SentinelWeave maps vulnerabilities to live services, drafts contextual patches, and routes them through a policy gate — all inside a deterministic audit trail your compliance team will actually enjoy reading.
This project is a spiritual successor in spirit to the auto-security-patcher lineage, reimagined as a broker between vulnerability intelligence, change management, and deployment pipelines. It does not patch code blindly. It negotiates.

Every security team eventually hits the same wall: the vulnerability feed grows faster than the deploy cadence. You end up with a backlog of advisories that are technically resolved but practically ignored. SentinelWeave flips the model. Rather than treating patching as a batch job performed weekly, it treats every advisory as a negotiation between three parties — your runtime, your policy, and your human reviewers.
Think of it as a border customs agent for your dependency graph. Malicious or risky changes are stopped at the gate. Legitimate security fixes get an expedited lane. Everything in between gets a tourniquet and a timestamp.
This project was inspired by the ergonomics of earlier auto-patching tools, but rebuilt with a strong opinion: automation without attribution is sabotage.
- Determinism over drama. Every decision SentinelWeave makes can be replayed from an append-only ledger.
- Policy is code, but policy is not always right. Humans always retain an override that is logged, justified, and reviewable.
- Small patches, big outcomes. The orchestrator prefers microscopic, scoped interventions over sweeping rewrites.
- Zero-trust doesn't stop at the perimeter. It extends into every patch bundle the system emits.
- Attribution is a first-class citizen. Every automated action carries a signed rationale.
- 🔍 Vulnerability Correlation Engine — Ingest advisories from SBOMs, package indexes, and vendor bulletins, then reconcile them against the actual versions running in your fleet.
- 🧩 Context-Aware Patch Synthesis — Generates minimal diff proposals using constraint solving rather than brute-force upgrades.
- 🚦 Policy Gate with Reversible Rollouts — Any patch can be staged, canaried, or held behind a signed approval token.
- 🗂️ Immutable Audit Ledger — Append-only event stream designed for auditor-friendly exports.
- 🔗 Pipeline-Native Hooks — Drop-in connectors for CI runners, admission controllers, and artifact registries.
- 🧠 Knowledge Graph of Dependencies — Understands transitive relationships, not just direct pins.
- 🌍 Localization-First UX — Interface strings and audit reports are translatable without rebuilding the application.
- 📱 Responsive Dashboard — Works equally well on a wall-mounted monitor, a tablet on a NOC desk, or a phone at 3 AM.
- 🕰️ Round-the-Clock Support Channel — Because advisories don't respect business hours.
- 🔐 Signature Verification — Every emitted patch bundle is signed and content-addressed.
SentinelWeave is composed of four cooperating planes:
- Ingest Plane — Collects advisories, feeds, and registry metadata.
- Reasoning Plane — Normalizes advisories into an internal graph model and proposes candidate remediations.
- Policy Plane — Evaluates candidates against organizational rules, risk posture, and change window constraints.
- Execution Plane — Emits signed patch bundles, orchestrates staging, and records outcomes.
Each plane communicates through a message bus with idempotent consumers. If a plane restarts, it resumes exactly where it left off — no duplicate patch submissions, no lost advisories.
The bundled dashboard is built with a layout-first mindset. Cards reflow gracefully between three density modes: Command, Triage, and Audit. On mobile, the timeline collapses into a vertical narrative that reads like a changelog rather than a spreadsheet. Color is used sparingly — state is conveyed through typography, iconography, and motion where appropriate, so the interface remains usable for colorblind reviewers.
Accessibility is not bolted on. Keyboard navigation, screen-reader labels, and reduced-motion preferences are respected throughout the entire surface area.
SentinelWeave ships with a locale bundle architecture that separates strings from logic. Translators can contribute via a flat resource format, and the UI picks up new locales without a rebuild.
Supported out of the box (with more added by the community each quarter):
- English
- Spanish
- German
- Japanese
- Brazilian Portuguese
- Hindi
- Arabic (right-to-left aware)
Number formatting, date rendering, and pluralization all flow through a single locale resolver, so audit reports read naturally in every supported language.
Advisories are published around the clock, so the support model matches that reality. The project maintains a live triage rotation, an always-on community help channel, and a documentation set written for people who are reading it at 4 AM while something important is on fire. Response targets are published transparently, and escalation paths are documented for enterprise consumers.
The policy gate is the heart of the orchestrator. It evaluates every candidate patch against a set of composable rules such as:
- Change window compliance — Is this patch allowed outside business hours?
- Blast radius threshold — How many services would a failed rollout affect?
- Dependency trust tier — Is this package from a maintainer with a verified history?
- Rollback readiness — Can the change be reversed within a defined budget?
- Human override presence — Has a named reviewer signed off?
Rules are expressed declaratively, versioned, and testable in isolation. You can unit test a policy the same way you unit test application code.
SentinelWeave prefers to meet teams where they already operate. Connectors exist for:
- Continuous integration runners
- Container admission controllers
- Artifact registries with content-addressed storage
- Chat-based approval workflows
- Ticketing systems for change management
- Secret managers for signed token delivery
Each connector is sandboxed, rate-limited, and can be toggled at the tenant level.
Observability in SentinelWeave is intentionally opinionated:
- Traces follow every advisory from ingest to outcome.
- Metrics track time-to-remediation, false-positive rate, and policy-gate latency.
- Logs are structured and correlated with a single remediation ID.
- Audit exports are human-readable and machine-parseable simultaneously.
Nothing is logged that would compromise a tenant's confidentiality. Redaction happens at the edge of the pipeline, not at the endpoint.
This project naturally touches a wide vocabulary of operational security topics: autonomous patch orchestration, vulnerability remediation automation, supply chain resilience, policy-as-code governance, signed patch bundles, immutable audit trails, dependency graph intelligence, zero-trust deployment pipelines, and continuous compliance reporting. These concepts are woven into the documentation because they describe what the software actually does — not because they were shoehorned into a marketing page.
- First half of 2026 — Stable public API for custom policy plugins.
- Mid-2026 — Federated multi-tenant policy exchange between trusted organizations.
- Late 2026 — Predictive risk scoring based on historical remediation velocity.
- Ongoing — Expanding locale coverage and connector breadth.
Roadmap items are tracked in the project tracker, and community votes directly inform prioritization.
Contributions are welcomed from engineers, translators, technical writers, and reviewers. Before opening a change:
- Read the contributor covenant and code of conduct.
- Run the local verification suite (details in the contributing docs).
- Keep pull requests scoped to a single concern.
- Add tests for behavior changes.
- Update documentation where user-facing behavior changes.
Design proposals are discussed openly. Disagreement is fine; disrespect is not.
