[P2] Improve installation, documentation, demo, and discoverability #8

Closed

Description

@GeoGeekLab

Phase 8 of the v0.5.0 hardening roadmap.

Completed

  • README leads with normal user installation after verified PyPI publication;
  • editable install is contributor/development guidance;
  • 60-second first-success example with expected semantics;
  • reproducible end-to-end wildfire task demo;
  • demo covers task requirements -> federation -> Item evidence -> asset plan -> volume -> manifest -> replay;
  • architecture/task-rule documentation aligned with stabilized API;
  • consistent "STAC Scout" evidence/dataset-intelligence positioning.

PR #27 merged the final README/install/demo changes.

Release validation proved a clean Python 3.14 environment can install stac-scout==0.5.0
from PyPI and successfully run the deterministic README first-success path.

Remaining non-blocking discoverability setting

  • expand GitHub topics to include:
    • stac
    • earth-observation
    • satellite-imagery
    • python
    • pystac
    • cloud-native-geospatial
    • geospatial-data

Current repository topics already include earth-observation, geospatial, gis, and
remote-sensing.

The connected GitHub API does not expose repository-topic mutation, so this final item requires
the repository UI.

Final verification

GitHub API confirms the repository topics now include:
stac, earth-observation, satellite-imagery, python, pystac,
cloud-native-geospatial, and geospatial-data, alongside the existing geospatial topics.
