tests/design-canvas-server.test.ts: the waitFor helper of the SSE test driver now rejects after 5 seconds with the buffered stream tail. When the host's inotify limits are exhausted, fs.watch never fires and these tests used to block the whole unit stage forever; they now fail in ~5s naming the cause.
extensions/gentle-ai.ts: the models-screen notices for routing keys that match no agent now say the profile key names no agent configured in gentle-shell, keeping the did-you-mean suggestion and the plural form; tests updated to the new wording.
Why
An exhausted inotify budget made the unit stage look slow when it was actually hung (observed >1h20m at 0% CPU). A waiter without a timeout turned an environmental failure into a silent stall.
The notices read like the profile was wrong; they now say the key is in
the profile but gentle-shell has no agent configured with that name,
with the same wording for the did-you-mean suggestion.
An exhausted inotify limit stops fs.watch from firing, so the SSE
tests waited forever for a change event that never came and hung the
whole unit stage. waitFor now rejects after 5 seconds with the tail of
the buffered stream, so the failure names the cause instead of stalling
CI.
Notices now identify profile keys that match no configured agent. Keys without suggestions are reported as ignored at launch; available suggestions remain in the notice. Test expectations use the updated wording.
openEvents().waitFor rejects after five seconds without a match and includes the pattern and recent buffered event data. The timeout is cleared when a match arrives.
The SSE tests can retain and process stale waiters after timeout, but the impact is limited to the test workflow.

Explanation
Issue [#2600] requires SSE waiters to fail instead of hanging when filesystem events do not arrive. tests/design-canvas-server.test.ts now rejects each unmatched waitFor after 5 seconds and includes the recent buffered stream tail in the error. Issue [#2600] also requires clearer unmatched profile-key notices. extensions/gentle-ai.ts now states that the key matches no agent configured in gentle-shell and preserves the suggestion and singular/plural handling. Updated tests cover the new notices.

Remove timed-out waiters from waiters.
The timeout rejects the promise but leaves its waiter in the registry. A later event chunk can still run pattern.exec and call the resolver for that rejected promise. Until the stream is destroyed, the waiter retains its pattern and callback and adds unnecessary event-processing work.
Suggested fix
const waitFor = (pattern: RegExp) => new Promise<RegExpExecArray>((resolve, reject) => {
- const timeout = setTimeout(() => reject(new Error(`events never matched ${pattern} within 5s; got: ${JSON.stringify(buffer.slice(-200))}`)), 5000);+ let waiter: { pattern: RegExp; resolve: (match: RegExpExecArray) => void } | undefined;+ const timeout = setTimeout(() => {+ if (waiter) {+ const index = waiters.indexOf(waiter);+ if (index !== -1) waiters.splice(index, 1);+ }+ reject(new Error(`events never matched ${pattern} within 5s; got: ${JSON.stringify(buffer.slice(-200))}`));+ }, 5000);
const settle = (match: RegExpExecArray) => { clearTimeout(timeout); resolve(match); };
const match = pattern.exec(buffer);
- if (match) settle(match); else waiters.push({ pattern, resolve: settle });+ if (match) settle(match); else {+ waiter = { pattern, resolve: settle };+ waiters.push(waiter);+ }
});
