Consistent messaging on the update page

For FPP if you are up to date you will see a green message "You are up to date" I don't think it should be greyed out. But on the OS side it isn't green and its lost. Also why is there an "Up to Date" button under the Fpp Software side?

Up to Date button - This is the button that becomes yellow and says "Update FPP Now" when an update is available. The main reason this button is visible is incase an update fails (loses connectivity, power loss, etc.).... In a case where an update fails, FPP may report that it's up to date but FPPD won't start or requires rebuild. A simple solution to this is to run the update again.

The greyed out part is to not attract attention to the update sections when everything is up to date. When an update is available (whether it's FPP Software or OS), that section is no longer greyed out so it catches the attention of the user.

Perhaps there is a better design that would allow the same functionality but make it a bit more user-friendly. If you have any suggestions, I'm sure we consider making this a bit more user friendly.

Clicking the button reinstalls the update only in advanced UI or higher. It follows with what you're saying except you're asking why the button is even displayed in the Basic level considering it has no functionality.

Making a change to this would not really be consistent with the upgrade OS section either. 3/4 of the buttons on the upgrade OS section are not usable when nothing is selected. Also when switching to the System Upgrade page, it can take a few seconds (depending on device and connection) for the page to fetch that theres updates available. I think that the greyed out button displaying Up to Date and switching to Update FPP Now (not greyed out) is cleaner then the button appearing out of nowhere once the update is detected.

This would have to be a design change that the core developers would have to consider what changes should be made. If changes are made, it'll probably just be something small as its too late in the year to start changing designs... functionality fixes are priority.

I just don't think having buttons that do nothing are intuitive. Im still pretty unclear how the whole thing works but as people come in the zoom room for help we will figure it out. Thanks for listening.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated. There's not really a right or wrong answer - feedback is what will make things better!

I agree that buttons that do nothing are not intuitive, but that's why they are greyed out when they are unusable. That's consistent with behaviour in a lot of other applications.
The idea behind it is that if it's greyed out, it doesn't require an action.
