DSI-2 Port only rotates input device, not actual screen

Please answer the following:

FPP Version and Hardware:
FPP 10.1.2 running on pi5

Describe the bug and Steps to reproduce:
A clear and concise description of what the bug is and the steps to be taken to reproduce.

• plug 7" display 2 into DSI-2 port
• enable kiosk mode and check the box for screen rotation
• touch feedback and graphics are now 90 degrees rotated from each other.

Expected behavior:
The screen and the mouse input should rotate into landscape mode on the detected connector, not just DSI-1.

@patdelaney — tagging you since this traces back to the KioskRotate feature you added in 412db37 (#2185).

The rotation only works when the panel is on DSI-1 because start_kiosk.sh hardcodes the output:
xrandr --output DSI-1 --mode 720x1280 --rate 60 --rotate right

The fix was added for a specific screen type, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0153R2A9I. Because it was natively portrait. What touch screen are you trying to implement. If you are using the screen I mentioned why can't you use DS1?

@patdelaney I'm using a pi5 and a the Raspberry Pi Touch Display 2 - 7". When the pi is mounted to the back of the display the DSI-2 port is the closest port to connect which seems most logical. If you are very patient, you can get the cable plugged in to DSI-1 but there is not 1mm in ribbon cable to spare, and it also totally covers the DSI-2 port for any other uses.

Thanks for the info, I'll see what I can do, For grins if you are Linux savvy you can edit /opt/fpp/scripts/start_kiosk.sh, There are 2 instances of DSI-1, you would just replace it.

Steps for testing since I don't have a ribbon cable long enough.
go in to the Kiosk settings turn it off and reboot.
If after the reboot the display is sideways the proceed to the next step.

Edit the /opt/fpp/scripts/start_kiosk.sh, and replace DSI-1 with DSI-2
Save file
reboot
Setup Kiosk again and see if that work. The change should stick for now, could likely get overwritten during an upgrade.

If that works, then I can look into changing the UI to expose DSI-1 or DSI-2

not really a bug, it's enhancement request. :-) It was designed for DSI-1
