Closing — superseded by #520, which incorporates all three commits from this branch (9c584ba, c961341, 6fc0885) plus the merge-engine fix that addresses the test_shard_degradation wedge those CI tunings were partly attempting to make more visible. Co-Authored-By: Claude noreply@anthropic.com |

Summary
Rolling branch for fixes that reduce baseline flake rate on the ephemeral OCI integration matrix. Will accumulate small, orthogonal fixes here rather than spinning up a new PR per fix.
This first commit caps pytest-xdist workers at 8. The companion framework changes that this CI exercises (via
