Thanks a lot for the blueprint and the three videos — I went through all of it, including everything you said in the recordings. Here is what came out of it.

Emoji row

• Size: the row drew its emojis at the emoji panel's size. It now has its own, smaller size (20 sp) and narrower cells, so about nine fit on a phone instead of seven. The row itself keeps its height.
• Long-press: holding an emoji in the row now opens the same menu as in the emoji panel (pin/unpin, remove). Removing takes it out of the row right away.
• Scrolling: the row no longer stops at one screen. It scrolls sideways through your whole history, pinned ones first, and the button at the end stays where it is.
• The button at the end shows a face now instead of "⋯", so it no longer looks like the Smartbar's own "⋯" right above it.
• "Remove row" pill and confirmation: not added. The row is off by default, so everyone who sees it switched it on themselves, in the same place where they can switch it off. Gboard needs the pill because its row is on for everyone.

From the videos

• Emoji suggestions after a new line or a comma: you were right, that was a bug. The suggestion for "Hello" looked back across anything that wasn't a letter. It now only survives spaces: after a line break, a comma or any other mark it is gone. That also frees the strip for the clipboard suggestion on a new line.
• Emoji search: the results now stand in two rows, like Gboard's, and the two rows stay the same height while you type. Tapping into the app's text field while a search is open now closes the search and gives the keys back to the app, so the blinking cursor in the app no longer lies about where you're typing. The same goes for the GIF, sticker and clipboard searches.
• Stutter when switching emoji categories: tapping a category far away used to animate through every category in between, building each one on the way and moving the highlight across all the tabs. It now jumps straight there (a neighbouring category still slides in), and the emoji cells are reused while scrolling instead of being rebuilt.
• Emoji key and language key at the same time and bullets/👉 in the suggestion bar on a new line: not planned. The first would take width from every layout for a key most people only use once in a while, and the emoji panel is already one long-press on the comma away. The second you already called optional yourself, and I agree.

This will ship with the next release.

One small request for the future: could you describe issues in text, with screenshots where they help, instead of videos? Screen recordings with narration take a lot longer to go through and are hard to search or quote later. A written list like your blueprint was perfect, and a screenshot with an arrow usually says as much as a minute of video. Thank you, and please don't worry about your English at all. It was perfectly clear.

Thank you so much for implementing this! Honestly, it feels great to see that most of the issues I’ve reported since this morning are getting resolved.😁

I usually try to explain everything as clearly and thoroughly as possible with ChatGPT’s help. At that time, since my exams were going on, I couldn’t provide a detailed explanation and simply attached the link. Going forward, I’ll make sure my reports are well-explained, with relevant screenshots, videos, images, and clear differences wherever needed, so there’s no confusion.

Most of the keyboard-related issues were just small things related to existing features. Going forward, if anything comes up, it will mostly be about new features.

The main one is the suggestion engine. Please do watch that attached Google Keyboard video — I honestly don’t know at what advanced level their suggestion engine is designed.

One more thing: recently I came across some patches related to this as well — Gboard Patches by Jason Wu (jasonwu1994/Gboard-patches). Please download and install the application on your device and have a look at the Patches section at the very bottom. You’ll find many features customized there, similar to what Dictate Keyboard has implemented. I think it could give you a better idea of where Dictate Keyboard might be missing certain small features or where there’s room for improvement. Whenever you get some free time, please do take a look.
