A natural, low-permission-cost complement to the already-logged push-notification gap (works without APNs/paid account, since it's driven by the app's own alert-refresh polling while foregrounded/recently backgrounded).
Risks: Live Activities have their own background-update budget and generally need a push channel for long-running accuracy — may end up gated behind the same paid-account/APNs unlock as full push notifications; worth prototyping the foreground-only version first.
