Summary

  • Move advanced CodeQL C# analysis to windows-latest with build-mode: autobuild so Windows App SDK / WinRT types resolve and the "Low C# analysis quality" advisory clears.
  • Widen the shared autobuild step for any matrix language with autobuild (C# and Swift).
  • Document why default setup cannot fix this (repo-wide Ubuntu runner) in .github/codeql/README.md.

Test plan

  • scripts/codeql-workflow.test.mjs passes locally
  • PR CodeQL (advanced) → Analyze (csharp) runs on windows-latest
  • Job log shows C# database quality metrics above thresholds (call targets ≥85%, typed expressions ≥85%)
  • After merge: disable default setup, set CODEQL_ADVANCED_ENABLED=true, dispatch on main, confirm uploads and advisory gone

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Added guidance on the runner and build requirements for C# CodeQL analysis, including Ubuntu limitations and expected build metadata.
  • Chores
    • Updated CodeQL configuration to build C# on Windows and use autobuild for applicable languages.
    • Set the Windows AI project’s default runtime target to x64.
  • Tests
    • Updated workflow checks to verify the revised build configuration and runtime target.

Ubuntu buildless C# cannot resolve Windows App SDK types, which triggers
the Low C# analysis quality advisory. Match the proven MeshAi Windows
build and widen the shared autobuild step for compiled languages.

Walkthrough

The CodeQL workflow now runs C# analysis on windows-latest with autobuild. The Windows project specifies win-x64. Documentation and workflow tests describe and check these settings.

Changes: CodeQL C# autobuild

The C# matrix entry now uses windows-latest and autobuild. The autobuild step runs for entries with that build mode, with Swift additionally gated on the scope output. The Windows project sets win-x64. The README documents the C# setup, and tests check the matrix, runtime identifier, and step conditions.

CodeQL autobuild runs dotnet build without -r; WindowsAppSDKSelfContained
rejects AnyCPU. Default the MeshAi project to win-x64 so analysis builds.
