A portable Agent Skill for creating clear, structured, beginner-friendly educational and technical tutorials.
It is designed for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, and other agents that support the Agent Skills format.
Repository: BenjaminAkyen/expository-tutorial-skills
Helps an AI agent explain a subject progressively using definitions, examples, procedures, interpretation, limitations, and a concise recap.
The portable skill is defined in skills/expository-tutorial-writer/SKILL.md. It contains no agent-specific instructions.
The optional agents/openai.yaml file provides enhanced display metadata for Codex. Other agents can ignore it; it does not restrict the skill to OpenAI products.
Let the Skills CLI detect the compatible agents installed on your computer:
npx skills add BenjaminAkyen/expository-tutorial-skills \
--skill expository-tutorial-writerInstall globally for Claude Code:
npx skills add BenjaminAkyen/expository-tutorial-skills \
--skill expository-tutorial-writer \
--agent claude-code \
--globalInstall globally for Codex:
npx skills add BenjaminAkyen/expository-tutorial-skills \

--agent codex \
--globalInstall globally for both Claude Code and Codex:
npx skills add BenjaminAkyen/expository-tutorial-skills \
--skill expository-tutorial-writer \

--globalThe Skills CLI supports additional agents. Substitute another supported agent identifier or omit --agent to use interactive detection.
From inside the repository directory:
npx skills add . --list
npx skills add . \
--skill expository-tutorial-writerTo target Claude Code and Codex during local testing:
npx skills add . \
--skill expository-tutorial-writer \
--agent claude-code \
--agent codexAsk the agent in plain language so the request works across compatible agents:
- Use the expository tutorial writer skill to explain feature importance to a beginner.
- Write an expository tutorial about precision and recall, including a worked example.
- Rewrite this draft as an approachable technical tutorial for non-specialists.
Agents that support explicit skill invocation may also use their native invocation syntax. For example, in Codex:
Use $expository-tutorial-writer to explain feature importance to a beginner.
