Hi, I'm Emma. I'm a scientific data analyst with a background in Earth and Planetary Science.
I work with Python-based data pipelines, astronomical datasets, and scientific image analysis. Currently contributing to NASA's Exoplanet Watch program, where I reduce telescope observations, generate exoplanet transit light curves using the EXOTIC pipeline, and upload validated results to the AAVSO Exoplanet Database.
I'm completing an MSc in Space Studies (Earth & Planetary Science) at APUS, with research focused on exoplanet atmospheric characterization.
Current focus: Building data analysis projects at the intersection of planetary science and remote sensing. See my project portfolio below.
Tools I work with: Python · SQL · SQLite · pandas · numpy · scipy · matplotlib · seaborn · Plotly · Cartopy · GeoPandas · Google Earth Engine · geemap · Pillow · EXOTIC · Aladin · JMARS · MATLAB · Google Colab · LaTeX · Linux
Background in: Data reduction & analysis · Scientific image processing · High-volume data workflows · Remote collaboration
NASA Exoplanet Archive: Data Explorer
Python + SQL analysis of 6,298 confirmed exoplanets. Covers discovery methods, historical trends, size demographics, and habitable zone candidates. Built with pandas, matplotlib, seaborn, and SQLite.
NASA GISS Temperature Analysis
Python and pandas analysis of 146 years of global surface temperature data.
Covers long-term trends, decade-by-decade acceleration, seasonal warming
patterns, and a full monthly heatmap encoding 1,752 data points.
Exoplanet Interactive Dashboard
Interactive Plotly dashboard exploring 6,298 confirmed exoplanets. Four
interactive charts including an animated discovery timeline from 1992 to 2026.
NASA GISTEMP Geospatial Analysis
Geospatial analysis of Arctic amplification using Cartopy and GeoPandas.
Maps warming across 8 latitude bands from 1880 to 2025 with Robinson
projection world maps and hemispheric divergence analysis.
Athabasca Glacier Retreat Analysis
Satellite-based analysis of Athabasca Glacier retreat using Landsat imagery and
Google Earth Engine. Covers surface area change, a clean-ice boundary retreat
proxy, an animated 40-year time-lapse, and correlation with global temperature
trends.
