🌐 English | 繁體中文 | 简体中文

Guide Version Platform Status

This guide details the complete process for joining the Windows Insider Program, upgrading to a compatible build (25H2 Release Preview Channel, Build 26200.7015+), and enabling the hidden Xbox full screen gaming experience.

⚠️ Warning: Please Read Before Proceeding

By proceeding with this guide, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • System Modification – The procedures in this guide perform deep modifications to Windows and may cause system instability, crashes, data loss, or require a complete OS reinstallation.
  • Use at Your Own Risk – You are fully responsible for any and all consequences. The developer and guide author provide no warranty, support, or liability for any damages incurred.
  • Backup Required – You must back up all important data and create a system restore point before proceeding.

Step 1: Join the Windows Insider Program (Release Preview Channel)

Enabling the Xbox full screen experience requires a specific Insider build or newer.

1. Understand the Release Preview Channel

The Release Preview Channel is the safest of the Insider channels, offering builds that are very close to what the general public will receive. It's the best balance of getting early access to features while maintaining high stability. While it is more stable than the Dev Channel, it is still pre-release software, and you should proceed with caution.

2. Join the Windows Insider Program

  • Navigate to the official Windows Insider Program website. Sign in with your Microsoft account to register and accept the program agreement.
  • On your Windows 11 PC, open Settings and navigate to Windows Update > Windows Insider Program.
  • Click Get started and link your registered Microsoft account.

3. Switch to the Release Preview Channel and Initiate Upgrade

  • When prompted to choose a channel, select Release Preview Channel.
  • Acknowledge the risk warnings and restart your computer when prompted.
  • After restarting, navigate to Settings > Windows Update and click Check for updates.
  • The system will begin to download and install the latest Release Preview build. This process can be lengthy and may require multiple restarts.

4. Verify Your System Build

Once the update is complete, verify your OS build by navigating to Settings > System > About. Confirm that the OS build is 26200.7015 or higher.

Step 2: Prepare the System with the Enabler Tool

  1. Download the Tool: Download the latest .msi installer from the Xbox Full Screen Experience Tool releases page.
  2. Install the Tool: Execute the downloaded installer. Administrator privileges are required; follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  3. Run the Tool: Launch the "Xbox Full Screen Experience Tool" from its desktop shortcut, click the Enable Xbox Full Screen Experience button, and then restart your computer as prompted.

Step 3: Update Core Apps from Microsoft Store

  1. After restarting, open the Microsoft Store.
  2. Go to the Downloads section (or Library in older versions of the Store).
  3. Click "Check for updates" to refresh all apps. Make sure Xbox and Xbox Game Bar are fully updated.

🔄 Tip: You may need to run "Check for updates" twice to ensure everything is fully installed.

Step 4: Activate the Full Screen Experience in Settings

  1. Navigate to Start → Settings → Gaming → Full screen experience.
  2. Set "Choose Home app" to Xbox.
    • If this option is missing, return to the previous step and ensure the apps are fully updated.
  3. Enable "Enter full screen experience on startup".

How to Revert the Changes

  1. Launch the "Xbox Full Screen Experience Tool" again and click the Disable & Restore button.
  2. Restart your computer to complete the process.
