Current Gemini E2E status

Exact published source a54421479708cfc7a12de2a4af3622115f69cdb9, tree 22cc6af37982a3a5a19c17546e6ad9e723e1700e, includes the reviewed composition with qualified Kimi parent888. The entire fresh current-source run40616166724 passed: admission, Gemini, Cline, Kimi components and Kimi single call. All33 actual PR checks passed; CodeRabbit alone is skipped. Existing Claude/Codex/OpenCode and terminal regressions are green.

Two independent whole original RAW reviews cover all eight current artifacts and all four selected native lanes. Gemini completed the full original-user/A/B lifecycle in91.391s:57 native/25 frontend members,24 frontend/168 embedded stream joins,16 public commands,14 catalogs,18 proofs,10 fresh native sessions,30 probe PID/session groups and6 owned calls. Exact source/revision/ownership/data, update/repair/restart/removal/isolation and ordinary final provider/authority closure are verified. All five Gemini qualification cases are true; vendor authentication and real-model qualification remain false.

The inherited current-source lanes also passed independent raw review: Cline80.724s/allfive; Kimi components42.502s/fourtrue with tools-callfalse; Kimi single call7.653s/threeMCPtrue with lifecycle/restartfalse. Kimi covers allfive across the two separate same-head lanes; neither individual lane is labeled allfive.

Root all-lane RAW SHA256 f83c192ef366804b2ce0c93d5c63ffb1cfbcfacedb4e58ffd27a95aa64a7c3dc; independent all-lane RAW SHA256 d07b1d30d4d7e7538d51d50b6fd9115f3d6abe1e674cdae5275ced939438853c.

The actual parent composition preserved all161 nonshared owner blobs and both complete shared-file changes. Two exact CODE reviews and final combined gates passed, including joint Go contracts,146 Python contracts, affected/full-six lint and16 full original/current reader replays. The local CLI process-capability failure remains recorded as a local failure; actual complete hosted CLI coverage transfers only through independently verified whole-module/input identities. Final gate receipt SHA256 523345f777b0ec4326b49f45625fd720bf52b61bfab6b850f7d5d6d6b2ab88cc.

All applicable current-source merge gates are complete. This is source qualification for the program branch; no release, vendor OAuth/real-model qualification or VS Code change.

Preserved source-bound implementation and evidence history

Current reviewed listing grammar and pending capture — 2026-10-27

Published source: 239067ed7e28d2d248988092dbdd34070e2c8b87; tree: a02f200ed86d19a74e6452d4253f1a0beb969cff.

The preceding genuine ef8 runtime 40583616867, job 122469600501, passed public user installation and its exact ownership/state/source proof. Its installed-user listing then returned the expected four catalog rows but failed the whole-stderr guard on the actual 347-byte MCP notification tuple. The capture includes initialization/listing, not an owned call or completed lifecycle.

The new helper admits only finite complete listing tuples built from at most two held, receipt-proved owned names at the exact user/A/B stage. The pinned publisher source establishes each registration/notification pair and the refresh ordering. Unknown warnings, altered tuples, unproved/removed/foreign recipes and impossible cross-project combinations remain refused. Independent stdout catalog, provider/probe/session, native-command, cleanup and final full-cycle closure checks remain unchanged.

Two pre-code plan GOs and independent exact implementation reviews passed. Focused Go, 62 Python contracts, actual all-enabled affected/full-root six-linter gates and unchanged failed-artifact replay passed. Current runtime 40587214352 is pending genuine execution. All five qualification flags remain false, and this PR remains a draft.

Historical source-bound records

The following observations retain their own earlier source identities and are not current-head qualification.

Latest genuine full-cycle attempt — 2026-10-27

Current source: c0b25d933b35ed1d0172f09b8a81f957d69727ac; tree: 9b93ec3d0e49822e6f01b100e8ba41934502e6e7.

The new runtime run 40569317705, Gemini job 122427178730, still fails after public add-user exits 0: Gemini public mutation escaped exact state closure. This source contains the reviewed installer-tmp correction. The rejected state key is not exported, so the new result does not identify that directory or any other particular path as the remaining cause.

The actual completed prefix contains three baseline skill listings, one empty baseline-A native session and one provider request/response. It has no installed proof, owned tool declaration, tool call or returned tool fact. All five qualification flags, runtime/observed completion, vendor authentication and real-model qualification remain false. The provider's later full-stage closure failure records the incomplete prefix; it supplies no full-cycle cleanup qualification.

Independent audit verified the API-bound native artifact 12765464677 (24 closed members) and frontend 12766166734 (25), clean exact source/tree, all 24 frontend and 30 embedded aggregate stream joins, and 452 immutable runtime-file receipts. No new state allowance is justified by this capture. The next correction requires bounded diagnosis of the existing state-closure refusal while preserving the guard. This PR remains a draft.

Earlier source-bound continuation records

Purpose

Verify pinned Gemini project installation through actual native trust, source selection and installed-tool observations, stacked on #520.

Current source

Published source: 2ff752a5909c96333786cfe80454fd8bf7be3a3b.
Exact tree: 9a98d09f6ec25d3d22b137309035bf213f284839.

Latest reviewed corrections and actual native progress

The exact 211-byte deliberately-untrusted skills list --all diagnostic is now admitted only for its measured untrusted-a-skills stage and exact arguments. Successful process records, whole raw channels, unchanged authored files, user-only selection and the original trust checks remain required. Root and desktop approved its plan/code; all 28 Python controls and the actual retained stdout/stderr replay pass.

The preceding runtime 40468040506, job 122068455782, at aaf2156b reached native exit zero and a completed two-request scripted provider exchange. It failed only the exact stderr guard on a measured 419-byte tuple. Native artifact 12717562120 and frontend 12717218227 were reverified for source/tree, closed members and streams; the historical failed result remains failed.

The new native amendment adds only that complete 419-byte string: the prior 342-byte terminal/ripgrep diagnostic followed by the exact 77-byte unfinished cleanup_ops metrics-phase warning. Full pinned publisher source establishes that the asynchronous phase can remain open when metrics flush; this does not prove cleanup success or cleanup failure. All process, independent provider/probe/session, cleanup and original-profile checks remain unchanged. Altered phases, reordered/extra lines, CRLF, API/auth errors and Early cleanup failed: remain refused.

Desktop and CLI approved the metrics plan/code. Focused Go contracts plus a complete actual native-stream/probe replay passed in 0.016 seconds; both affected all-enabled and unfiltered whole-file lint reported zero issues. The replay preserved seven held hashes, original installed literals, nonce/root/HOME, receipt target/data and independent event/PID/session joins. The temporary replay was removed before lint and commit. Fresh genuine research/runtime and the full user/A/B lifecycle remain required; no qualification was promoted.

At preceding source d94270ce, runtime 40465927318 and research 40465927279 both failed. The independently audited research now passes configured A/B/user MCP inventory and reaches a new exact 211-byte diagnostic for the deliberately untrusted skills control. The current head includes the separately reviewed untrusted-skills and exact native-metrics corrections described above, while preserving the earlier two native environment expectations. Fresh current-source native evidence is required.

Implemented behavior and measured corrections

The hosted fixture acquires exact Gemini 0.65.0 and Node 24.21.0, preserves the original user profile and separate projects A/B, and retains the pinned exclusion-before-trust precedence. Its bounded public-CLI installed attempt uses the supported fixture gemini-api-key selection and a private scripted loopback provider. Source/package authority, provider requests, native/probe sessions, returned tool results and cleanup are checked independently.

The accumulated corrections follow genuine native bytes and pinned publisher source:

  • The native wait_for_previous.description must equal the complete observed 204-byte literal. Truncation, altered/missing fields and wrong types still fail.
  • Returned probe literal must equal exactly literal plus the held original HOME, and once must equal the held installed target plus /. These are the pinned client's own explicit-env expansion results; incoming values are not normalized, authored installed bytes stay frozen and argv's ${UNKNOWN} remains literal. All other fact, nonce, marker, PID/session and independent event comparisons remain exact.
  • Model-role history permits only the exact functionCall plus thoughtSignature: "skip_thought_signature_validator" union. Its call ID, tool name, arguments and returned result remain exact. The measured wire ID and native emitted ID are checked separately; arbitrary metadata and system-instruction exceptions remain refused.
  • Research skills list --all accepts only its exact measured diagnostic tuple.
  • Research mcp list may use stderr only when the complete stdout is empty and the complete nonempty stderr passes the existing exact inventory parser. This follows the pinned Gemini logger and the measured 201-byte inventory; there is no warning filtering, partial parse, changed command status, or weakened trust/source check.
  • After a successful native command and its unchanged process/capture/cleanup checks, stderr may be empty, the exact existing ripgrep fallback, or the exact measured 342-byte terminal-warning-plus-ripgrep tuple. This is whole-byte equality, with no trimming, line filtering, arbitrary warning prefix or API/authentication-error exception.

Native argv/environment, source pins, selected model, permission/trust rules, deadlines, original profile checks and artifact admission remain strict. The parent shared frontend/Darwin cleanup fixes and external CI concurrency corrections are preserved.

Source-bound observations

Run 40349097306, native artifact 12668685097, failed before provider traffic because the original noninteractive authentication selection was unsupported; the fixture now uses the pinned supported selection.

Run 40367376528, job 121754582361, reached MCP initialize/tools-list and a native provider request, exposing the truncated description. Native artifact 12677916698 SHA256 is d558be3ebc28741af8e91011e8435cf5a286a2f105b73e0d8608275b9cf99d1f; frontend 12678257392 SHA256 is 46c65a8622da53758498c28e301a2223941abb4c901c0ae37ff6afbf58c813bb.

Run 40405537328, verified artifact 12698460531, supplied the second-request model part with the exact thought signature. The correction was checked against pinned google-gemini/gemini-cli@6006c14a4decfe4b891c6263ad6ad5992e404b5b and the actual retained request. The old 1952-byte failed stderr remains rejected; accepting its 342-byte warning tuple does not relabel that failed run.

At source 9f81687411249640a11a54650888cec76c4820d5, runtime 40459797233 reached the provider/tool response but failed exact returned environment facts. The pinned implementation expands the authored missing-variable expression to an empty string and the explicit HOME expression to the held original HOME. The eleven remaining facts and probe session joins were retained for the separate expectation correction; the failed native exit is not accepted. Research 40459797394 recorded mcp list exit 0, empty stdout, and the complete 201-byte stderr inventory, SHA256 13b38cbfb721679de46a7ab935acc81b597c8a34c10ea57fa21b77d45c6ea595.

Independent review and verification

Each protocol/diagnostic amendment received two independent plan reviews before code, then independent code review and root integration review. Exact normal/history/countTokens controls retain closed field sets, roles, identifiers and source/probe authority.

The published provider/research corrections passed 31 Python contracts, focused Go tests and exact retained-request offline replay; both applicable lint gates reported zero issues. The final terminal correction passed the affected native contract suite in 0.015 seconds, including an exact-hash replay that refused the old 1952-byte failed stream while accepting only its measured complete warning tuple. The temporary replay test was removed after execution. Final all-enabled affected lint and unfiltered whole-file size/complexity/architecture lint both reported zero issues; formatting/whitespace checks pass.

The stderr inventory slice received two independent plan and code approvals. Its 25 Python contracts passed both owner and root execution, including replay of the exact retained 201-byte inventory; AST and whitespace checks passed. The parser, endpoint/source comparison, command/owned-file eligibility and unchanged trust outcomes remain mandatory.

The native environment slice received independent plan and code approvals from root and a second critic. Focused existing/new native contracts and the actual retained request2/three-event replay passed in 0.022 seconds. Both affected all-enabled lint and the unfiltered whole-file gate reported zero issues; the temporary replay was removed before lint/publication. The old failed capture remains failed.

No vendor executable, model, installer or hosted eligibility guard ran locally.

Remaining merge gate

Fresh genuine native execution must establish the complete provider/tool result, followed by full original-user/A/B lifecycle, source update, exact-pin repair, restart, removal and repeated removal with retained data/foreign authority. Existing initialize/list observations and a successful parser replay do not establish those later cases. All unproved lifecycle/MCP, vendor-authentication and real-model flags remain false. Applicable current-source checks and native evidence are required before merge; no release is included.

Walkthrough

This pull request adds Gemini scope-discovery collection and a test-only native project lifecycle cycle. The cycle checks public operations, listings, provider exchanges, native events, state proofs, and captured evidence. The first complete capture remains subject to review, and qualification flags remain false.

Changes: Gemini scope discovery

The capture validator could admit a lifecycle proof whose state contradicts its labeled stage, which weakens the qualification evidence gate. Tie each proof's scope and removal state to its stage label before relying on admitted captures. The remaining comments are minor documentation and test-hardening items.

Explanation

The title "feat: qualify Gemini native project E2E" names the main thrust of the PR, which adds Gemini native project end-to-end verification tests, collectors, and plans. However, the PR does not qualify anything: the description and summaries state that qualification flags remain false, and the latest genuine capture still fails. The title therefore overstates the outcome, though the work it describes is real and on-topic.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description does not follow the repository template. It has no "## Summary", "## Verification", or "## Release Impact" headings, and its checklist items are absent. It is a long, status-driven narrative of Gemini E2E runs, hashes, and qualification flags. It does state what changed (Gemini cycle capture and diagnostic allowances) and why (native E2E qualification), and it says no release is included. The template's verification items (go test ./..., make lint, make vet, make generated-check) are not explicitly checked or reported in template form. The description is mostly about evidence history rather than a clear list of what changed in this PR.

Resolution

Restructure the description to follow the template: a Summary section with a bullet list of what changed and why, a Verification section with the template checklist (go test ./..., make lint, make vet, make generated-check, focused tests) marked with the actual results, and a Release Impact section with the checkboxes marked. Move the long run-by-run evidence history into a linked doc or a separate section after the template sections. Note that make vet and make generated-check are not mentioned in the description and need to be confirmed or marked as not run.

Comment @coderabbitai help to get the list of available commands.

Use the exact observed and pinned-source 204-byte description. Add independent positive input and strict regressions for the truncated literal and malformed schema fields. Preserve native protocol, auth, lifecycle, and qualification gates.

Reviewed independently by root R1 and capture R2.
Port only the two existing parent workflow concurrency changes. The current Gemini run is confirmed pending with zero jobs in its legacy group; no particular holder is asserted. Root and independent critic verified the exact disjoint full-tree union. Product, provider schema, native fixture, host, guards and evidence remain unchanged. This does not claim to fix hosted runner allocation or cancel old runs.

Check strict Gemini request/part union grammar across the first request and the tool-result follow-up, the pinned wait_for_previous description, native/probe session and tool-result correlation, source/receipt ownership, and original-user/A/B preservation. Reject unknown or malformed protocol values without confusing legitimate observed follow-up structure with the initial request. Preserve all hosted-only/auth/trust/pin/process/cleanup/budget/artifact guards. Research or one MCP call is not full native lifecycle qualification. Anchor findings to the reviewed source.

@codex review

@coderabbitai Please independently review the narrow proposed plan below as well. This is a pre-implementation plan review and source-bound finding, not a duplicate request to rerun the whole PR. Please return explicit GO/NO-GO with concrete constraints. Review only: no autofix, no branch edits, no native execution outside a genuine disposable GitHub-hosted runner, no ready-state change, no merge/release. The coordinating root workspace is not available here, so no competing code change has been made.

Confirmed blocking finding at eef6c202abf02489338db54c0ffbb9cb2c283ca6

geminiProjectContents in repotests/agentplugins_gemini_project_native_provider_test.go rejects every part whose map length is not one. The real second request from run https://github.com/777genius/universal-agent-plugins/actions/runs/40405537328 has a model part with exactly functionCall and thoughtSignature: "skip_thought_signature_validator"; the first request has only text parts. The admitted native artifact 12698460531 was downloaded and its outer SHA-256 verified as 0aba508ca5cbaebc1054a04654d6afc6b534ecdc298b91497a14857cecb03cc0. Evidence members: provider-request-2.json and runtime-attempt.json (provider_error: Gemini part union, provider_returned: false, all five qualification flags false).

The exact pinned upstream source—not current main—explains the field: https://github.com/google-gemini/gemini-cli/blob/6006c14a4decfe4b891c6263ad6ad5992e404b5b/packages/core/src/utils/historyHardening.ts (blob d58274161f6075f29b62ea7aabc4cdcb54e02148) defines the literal and adds it to the first model function call when no thought signature exists. This is an observed local test-provider wire-shape incompatibility, not evidence of failed MCP installation.

Proposed narrow plan (not implemented)

  1. Keep exactly one payload alternative (text, functionCall, or functionResponse). Admit the additional thoughtSignature field only on a model-role functionCall part and only with this exact source-pinned, observed literal. Preserve the already-supported no-metadata shape. Do not introduce arbitrary optional metadata or relax unknown-field rejection.
  2. Retain exact issued call ID/name/arguments and response identity/output validation, the first-turn no-tool-history rule, second-turn one-call/one-response rule, actual probe/provider result join, and all existing body/request/time/process/source/auth/trust/cleanup/redaction guards. No authentication or production-model signature validation is changed.
  3. Add inert regression tests for the observed follow-up shape; wrong/null/non-string/empty signature, unknown extra keys, wrong role, signature on text/response, multiple payload alternatives, and mutated call identity/arguments must still fail. Preserve the existing valid no-metadata cases.
  4. Obtain two independent plan decisions before implementation; then independently review the patch and run only relevant inert contracts/lint plus fresh source-bound hosted native proof. This fix alone must NOT raise native lifecycle/restart/MCP/auth/model qualification flags or enable merge: further lifecycle stages still require observed evidence.

Please also identify any tighter source-bound alternative or overlooked consumer of geminiProjectContents (normal request, token-count request, and system instruction) before this plan is accepted.

@777genius GO for the narrow plan, subject to the constraints below. NO-GO for a parser-wide two-key exception or merge based on this fix alone. This is one independent plan decision, not patch approval.

Source-bound assessment

I inspected eef6c202abf02489338db54c0ffbb9cb2c283ca6.

  • In repotests/agentplugins_gemini_project_native_provider_test.go, Line 44 rejects every part with more than one key. The reported functionCall plus thoughtSignature shape therefore fails before call validation.
  • I fetched the exact pinned historyHardening.ts. Its Git blob matches d58274161f6075f29b62ea7aabc4cdcb54e02148. Line 12 defines "skip_thought_signature_validator". Lines 139–154 inject that value into the first unsigned model function call. Lines 477–479 preserve the field during scrubbing.
  • This supports the proposed fixture compatibility correction. It does not establish an MCP installation failure.

I did not independently download or re-hash artifact 12698460531. My assessment of the observed wire request relies on your supplied artifact evidence. The rejection and pinned-source explanation are independently confirmed.

Required constraints

  1. Validate exact key sets, not only map length. Admit the existing single-payload shape. Admit the two-key shape only when its keys are exactly functionCall and thoughtSignature, its row has explicit role model, and its signature is the exact string above. Reject absent or wrong roles for the metadata exception. Reject all other metadata and payload combinations.

  2. Keep call and result validation unchanged. Preserve exact call ID, name, arguments, response identity, output wrapper, and probe-facts validation. Do not strip metadata before checking its value. Do not modify the provider response to avoid the native hardening path.

  3. Test each consumer explicitly. A shared-parser change must not silently widen unrelated contexts.

Consumers and tighter alternative

All consumers are in repotests/agentplugins_gemini_project_native_provider_test.go:

Consumer Source Required treatment
Normal request contents Line 181 Admit the exact metadata shape in model call history. Preserve first-stream rejection of tool history and second-stream one-call/one-response checks.
countTokens contents Lines 175–186; handler Lines 300–303 Define metadata admission explicitly. Token counting must not advance stream state or establish tool execution. Do not apply a blanket first-stream rule to legitimate later token-count history.
systemInstruction Lines 196–198 Do not inherit the metadata exception. Its parsed parts are discarded, so stream-history checks do not inspect them.

The tighter alternative is explicit parsing context, such as history versus system instruction. Share payload validation, but enable the signature exception only for history contexts. Preserve existing valid system text.

There is also a pre-existing limit in the current validator: Lines 34–36 allow absent roles, and the helper flattens rows before returning parts. Later checks count calls and responses; they do not establish their row roles or ordering. Do not describe those checks as a complete role/order grammar. If the proposed negative tests require general call/response role enforcement, state that additional tightening explicitly.

Acceptance checks

Extend inert coverage with:

  • The independently stated observed signature literal and the valid no-metadata follow-up.
  • Wrong, null, non-string, and empty signatures.
  • Unknown keys, multiple payloads, and signature-only parts.
  • Signature on text, response, user-role call, or role-absent call.
  • Mutated call ID/name/arguments and response identity/output.
  • First-stream tool history, duplicate calls/responses, and an extra stream.
  • Normal request, token-count, and system-instruction context cases.

Keep the full wait_for_previous literal and exact schema-equality controls unchanged.

Obtain the second independent plan decision before implementation. Then require independent patch review, relevant inert contracts/lint, and fresh source-bound hosted native evidence. Preserve all source/receipt ownership, original-user/A/B, auth, trust, pin, process, cleanup, budget, redaction, and artifact guards.

This correction must not raise qualification flags. One successful tool exchange would still not qualify lifecycle, restart/removal, vendor authentication, or real-model behavior.

No files were changed. No repository code or native executable was run.

Focused source-and-evidence review of the Gemini provider grammar; this is NOT whole-PR approval or native qualification. Confirmed blocker is attached inline. The constrained plan and source/artifact identities are recorded in issuecomment-6434428989. CodeRabbit independently confirmed the exact rejection and pinned upstream blob, granting one conditional plan GO in issuecomment-6434440040; it additionally requires explicitly separating history from systemInstruction metadata admission and testing countTokens separately. A second independent plan decision is still absent: Codex returned an explicit review-usage-limit error (issuecomment-6434432509), not a completed review. No source changes, guard relaxations, native executions, qualification changes, or merge were performed in this review.

Independent follow-through on current c887f66d: the signature/wire-ID amendment is present and preserved. I found a further concrete runtime-facts blocker already observable in the admitted old artifact; this is not a request for a blind rerun or a competing patch.

In genuine run 40405537328, artifact 12698460531 (outer SHA256 independently rechecked 0aba508ca5cbaebc1054a04654d6afc6b534ecdc298b91497a14857cecb03cc0), installed .gemini-settings.json.installed retains UAP_TEST_LITERAL = "literal ${UNKNOWN} $HOME" and UAP_TEST_ONCE = <held managed root>/${UNKNOWN}. However both native tool_result and independently captured tools/call facts contain literal = "literal " + <original fixture HOME> and once = <held managed root> + "/". The argv ${UNKNOWN} remains literal. validateFacts still requires the pre-expansion env values, so it will refuse these same measured facts after the provider grammar passes.

Exact pinned publisher source explains the separate native transformation: google-gemini/gemini-cli@6006c14a4decfe4b891c6263ad6ad5992e404b5b/packages/core/src/tools/mcp-client.ts applies expandEnvVars(value, sanitizedEnv) to the explicitly configured MCP environment; packages/core/src/utils/envExpansion.ts, blob c17d91e1f75ebe3690d575ecffbf732630b74a57, documents missing variables resolving to empty and expands the supplied environment through the shipping dotenv-expand dependency. This is different from Copilot's observed handling of the unknown variable; do not reuse the Copilot expected literal blindly.

Please include this observed boundary in the next separately reviewed Gemini amendment: distinguish the exact unchanged UAP-installed bytes from native-expanded runtime values, bind any expected HOME strictly to the held original fixture Home (not project, ambient env, or newly observed baseline), and keep every source/receipt/path/nonce/revision/argv/data/probe join strict. Alternatively establish a supported pinned escaping contract if required by the product's literal semantics; no inferred escaping/fallback or blanket acceptance of transformed values. Add negative controls for foreign/project HOME, unknown-variable substitution, wrong trailing path, and mutated installed config. This observation alone is neither a plan approval nor native lifecycle qualification. No code/ref or qualification flag changed here.

Independent source-bound diagnosis of the remaining state-closure failure (not a competing implementation or merge approval).

Confirmed a specific omitted authority: the public security-assessment cache. In exact source c0b25d9, geminiProjectAttempt.env() sets AGENTPLUGINS_HOME to /installer-state. compose.go always wires securityscan.FileCache{Root: filepath.Join(cacheRoot, "security", "assessments")}. Evaluator.Evaluate cannot return a successful local_scan assessment until Cache.Store succeeds. The unchanged state-closure predicate admits neither the new assessments directory nor its entry.

I independently downloaded native artifact12765464677 from genuine run40569317705, verified outer SHA256 5a9692eff8f757210fecbc184b9ca91b79abbe219c77bc6a1a8ac1f0f0e6cc54 and both bounded unique ordinary ZIP member sets/CRCs. Actual add-user exits0 and /data/security records evidence_source=local_scan, scanner lintai0.1.3, policy agent-plugin-install/v2. Applying the immutable CacheKey formula to that recorded assessment gives security/assessments/b99b8ba443fb9059fc6b82486fc8e78537380cc18512785cf689dfc0673ca8a2.json.

A standalone inert Go reproduction of the exact state-closure decision confirms that adding either the assessment directory or that selected-key file returns Gemini public mutation escaped exact state closure; unchanged foreign entries and the currently allowed selected data additions remain accepted (0.002s). Only the copied decision and minimal inert types were exercised; this is not a full-package test or native proof. No vendor or installer ran locally. The old artifact does not export the rejected filesystem map, so I distinguish this deterministic source/control-flow cause from directly observing which map entry won the unordered refusal.

Important follow-on: project A/B public commands also use the SAME original user cacheRoot, although apply opens only the selected project's StateRoot. Merely allowing an arbitrary security subtree in user-scope StateClosure would neither be safe nor repair the later frozen-user-tree check.

Suggested narrow plan for independent review: keep production behavior unchanged; explicitly account for only the selected package's genuine assessment-cache write in the cycle fixture. Derive subject from held authored source/manifest and the fixed existing scanner/policy requirement; bind the exact key and cached assessment (the producer intentionally omits evidence_source when persisting). Check ordinary owner/mode/identity and strict schema/content, permit only necessary stable parents, preserve all previous/unrelated assessments and scanner bytes, and keep temporary residue/unknown paths fatal. Apply this exact shared-cache authorization to each selected user/project public operation without opening the rest of original user state. Add controls for foreign key/subject/policy/scanner, altered preexisting cache, malformed/extra fields, alias/mode/identity changes, and project operation touching foreign user state. Do not disable security scans, fabricate a cached PASS, rebaseline a whole profile, or promote qualification. Two independent pre-code plan reviews and fresh hosted full-cycle proof remain necessary.

I have not edited a branch, shared checkout, checkpoint, runtime guard, qualification flag or workflow. This finding supplements the active root's work and avoids another unsupported generic path allowance.

@coderabbitai Please independently review the proposed narrow cache-authority plan in #526 (review) against exact head c0b25d933b35ed1d0172f09b8a81f957d69727ac. This is PRE-CODE PLAN REVIEW ONLY; no autofix, branch change, rerun, merge, or release. Challenge especially the shared original-user cache on project operations, evidence_source omission in FileCache.Store, before/after frozen-tree identity, exact assessment subject/key/policy, preservation of unrelated entries, and whether the already captured successful local_scan proves the missing cache obligation. State GO/NO-GO and required corrections. The previous artifact does not export the rejected map entry, and no new native qualification is claimed.

@codex review Please independently assess the same proposed plan and concrete current-source failure, without editing files or creating a replacement PR. Do not treat the other review or a green single-exchange run as approval. The owner requires two independent plan reviews before a new runtime-fixture slice. If review capacity is unavailable, report that explicitly; absence of a review is not an approval.

Coordination: the root executor is actively continuing other leaves; its checkout/checkpoint is not available in this separate session. I have only published the independently reproduced finding and this additive review request following the owner's direct continuation instruction. No competitive branch publication is being made.

@777genius GO for the narrow fixture-only plan, with the constraints below. NO-GO for a generic cache-subtree allowance or an unchecked original-user rebaseline. This is one independent pre-code plan decision. It is not patch approval or merge approval.

I read the linked plan and inspected exact head c0b25d933b35ed1d0172f09b8a81f957d69727ac. Its tree is 9b93ec3d0e49822e6f01b100e8ba41934502e6e7.

Source-bound findings

The cache obligation is real. In cli/cmd/agentplugins/compose.go, Line 221 configures a non-nil FileCache under the original cacheRoot. In install/integrationctl/agentplugins/adapters/securityscan/evaluator.go, Lines 65–73 return a successful local_scan assessment only after Cache.Store succeeds. In repotests/agentplugins_gemini_cycle_closure_test.go, Lines 73–102 provide no authorization for new assessment directories or files.

Project scope retains the original-user cache. In cli/cmd/agentplugins/compose.go, Lines 107–110 change the project dataRoot. Lines 147–154 retain cacheRoot, including scoped app construction. Therefore, a selected-project state allowance alone cannot handle the shared-cache write. The original-user frozen map must also receive an exact, separately proved cache delta.

One attribution needs correction. FileCache.Store does not remove evidence_source. Evaluator.Evaluate clears cached.Evidence at Lines 67–68 before calling Store. FileCache.Store then marshals that value. The omitempty tag causes omission. The fixture must expect the field to be absent, not "local_scan", "", or null.

Required constraints before implementation

  1. Bind the exact subject and requirement before the command.

    • Use the held authored package tree digest.
    • Use sha256: plus the hash of the held plugin.json bytes.
    • Bind scanner lintai version 0.1.3.
    • Bind the complete agent-plugin-install version 2 policy, including its digest.
    • Do not derive these expected values from the cache file being admitted.

CacheKey hashes seven NUL-separated values in securityscan/cache.go, Lines 27–30. Matching only the policy ID/version is insufficient.

The current authored recipe has no commands, so the bare key is appropriate. Assert that condition. Evaluator.Evaluate changes the key when a command view exists; do not generalize the bare-key rule to command-bearing packages.

  2. Separate cache authorization from selected installation authorization.

For project operations, authorize only the selected assessment delta in the original-user state tree. Do not apply the user recipe’s full installation-state allowance to that tree. User installation state, managed payload, retained data, scanner files, and unrelated assessments must remain frozen.

Apply cache inspection to each public operation. Do not grant a cache write merely because the operation is public. Define the expected transition for each stage: new assessment, unchanged cache hit, or no cache change.

  3. Keep the complete before/after identity proof.

    Preserve this sequence:

    • Hold the complete pre-command map.
    • Capture the complete post-command map.
    • Validate the exact allowed delta and assessment bytes.
    • Bind parsed bytes to the captured file record.
    • Re-read the complete authorities and require exact equality.
    • Freeze the same validated maps.

This extends the existing sequence in repotests/agentplugins_gemini_cycle_proof_test.go, Lines 101–112. Do not replace it with a fresh unchecked baseline. When user state and shared-cache state are the same root, validate and freeze one consistent map.

  4. Permit only necessary parents and the exact selected leaf.

Require ordinary owned directories with mode 0700 and an ordinary single-link assessment file with mode 0600. Preserve existing directory device/inode/owner/group identity. Allow only the parent metadata changes required by the authorized insertion.

Keep unknown paths, aliases, temporary files, deletion, and unrelated replacement fatal. An unchanged pre-existing assessment must retain its full record, not merely its content hash. Do not authorize replacement of an existing selected entry without a separate, explicit stage requirement.

  5. Join the complete assessment, not just its filename.

Validate strict JSON shape, field types, schema, subject, scanner, policy, outcome/count consistency, findings, scanned-file count, and report digest. Reject duplicate keys, unknown keys, trailing JSON, and an explicitly supplied evidence_source.

Where the command returns /data/security, compare the complete assessment after the single permitted difference: removal of evidence_source. Do not normalize other values or manufacture a cached PASS. SecurityAssessment.Validate is useful, but it does not establish byte provenance or exact field presence by itself.

  6. Preserve earlier assessments across source update and removal.

A revised A source produces a different subject and key. The old A assessment becomes an unrelated retained entry. Do not replace or delete it. Removal must not become permission to purge the shared cache.

What the captured local_scan proves

Assuming the supplied capture is admitted, successful /data/security.evidence_source = "local_scan" proves that the configured evaluator completed Cache.Store before returning that assessment. This establishes the missing cache-write obligation from current source control flow.

It does not prove:

  • Which map entry triggered the unordered closure refusal first.
  • The retained cache file’s exact bytes, identity, or mode.
  • Preservation of unrelated entries.
  • Later project-cache behavior or full native lifecycle qualification.

I did not independently download or re-hash artifact 12765464677 in this review. I therefore do not independently attest its reported key b99b8ba443fb9059fc6b82486fc8e78537380cc18512785cf689dfc0673ca8a2. The implementation must calculate each expected key from held source authority, not hard-code the historical key.

Acceptance conditions

Retain the proposed negative controls. Also cover duplicate JSON keys, explicit empty/null evidence_source, same-byte inode replacement, cache changes during proof, old-A assessment preservation after revision, and a project command that changes non-cache user state.

Obtain the second independent plan decision before implementation. Then require independent patch review, relevant inert contracts/lint, and fresh source-bound hosted full-cycle evidence. Preserve all existing auth, trust, pin, process, cleanup, budget, artifact, and qualification guards.

No files or refs were changed. No repository code, installer, or native executable was run. No rerun or PR-state action was requested.

Independent follow-through on the newly published assessment-cache correction: GO for the narrow cache-authority implementation; NOT complete lifecycle/merge approval.

I reviewed the exact ef8c42b helper/ledger/frame projection, selected public-operation wiring, shared-global proof and before/after freeze order. Existing cache entries keep full identity, only the selected held-source entry may be introduced, unknown assessment descendants remain fatal, project operations cannot open non-cache user state, and native-writer-lock validation precedes final recapture/freeze. No production scan/evaluator, native pin/auth/trust/process/budget or qualification guard changed. The source plan records the root's own two independent pre-code reviews; this additional review is independent of those. I did not rerun the full Go package or claim the root's reported local tests as my execution.

Fresh genuine hosted evidence now verifies progress beyond the previous cache refusal. Run40583616867/job122469600501 uses actual GitHub-hosted Azure Ubuntu24.04.5/image20261012.334.1 and exact ef8c42b/tree462634b2bae96f82d455bfe853a35fa4c394ebbe. I downloaded and verified both outer SHA256 and bounded canonical unique ordinary inner/outer ZIP entries/CRC:

  • native12770589174: ece142caacab9c75bec59e590717ea41818c84bccb76a754fd95505d446c3c9b (24 inner members)

The actual cycle-proof.jsonl now includes the successful add-user state/binding proof. The test proceeds to listing:installed-user; it no longer stops at the old cache-closure assertion.

The NEW exact failure is Gemini cycle unknown skill catalog diagnostic, then expected incomplete-provider-prefix cleanup failure. The installed-user native skills list --all command itself exits0/error=false/context_error=false in2263ms. Stdout1289B lists the held U-one skill enabled and the frozen foreign-user skill disabled. Two independent probe events (initialize,tools/list) share PID6355/session6355-1793135432998435968 and the held nonce, within the command interval; there is no tools/call at this listing stage.

The complete new stderr is347B/SHA25676222dc470d4288bb95b6a1c18044afad792af771c28d2018ecaa43b2d64e5a0:

Server 'uapgeminiu' has tools but did not declare 'listChanged' capability. Listening anyway for robustness...

MCP context refresh complete.

Pinned publisher source google-gemini/gemini-cli@6006c14, packages/core/src/tools/mcp-client.ts::registerNotificationHandlers, independently confirms the two added notification-handler log branches. Current geminiCycleListingStderr accepts only the prior empty/ripgrep/149-byte tuples; therefore it rejects this entire measured347-byte tuple before skill/event admission.

Please use this exact new capture for the next separately reviewed listing-diagnostic amendment. Preserve fixed argv, held selected server identities, full stdout/catalog and probe-event checks, successful process/cleanup, all bounds and original profile authority. Do not filter arbitrary stderr, infer future multi-server ordering from this single-server trace, change the probe's real capabilities, or promote any qualification. The same logging family may be relevant to later native stages, but those exact tuples still require source/evidence review. All five formal flags remain false and the full provider/lifecycle prefix is incomplete. No new retry or concurrent branch write was issued by this review.

Please independently review exact current head 239067ed7e28d2d248988092dbdd34070e2c8b87 against the actual #520 base. Review only: no autofix, branch write, retry, readiness transition, merge, release or deferred VS Code work. The root is actively continuing other leaves; anchor every finding to the exact source you inspect.

The previous cache-closure finding is now fixed by ef8c42b, independently reviewed in #526 (review) and resolved only after the new genuine ef8 capture passed add-user proof. Current239 then fixes the separately measured347-byte installed-user MCP-listing diagnostic using exact held-name tuples, at most two atomic pairs and bounded whole-stream matching. I independently checked the final helper and its call chain against pinned publisher mcp-client/mcp-client-manager sources and the old347-byte artifact. I found no confirmed new source defect in this narrow change. Neither that observation nor the resolved cache thread is a complete-PR approval.

Prioritize actual regressions, shared original-user cache preservation during project operations, strict selected receipt/source/data authority, native/provider/probe correlation and PID/session/time order, missing-versus-removed components, deadline/ordinary cleanup, failure capture privacy, and final qualification gates. Retain closed unknown-field/path/error refusal; no broad stderr filtering or success inference from local/research checks. New source-bound full-cycle run40587214352 is not yet completed; all formal qualification remains unproved until the full reviewed native cycle succeeds. The repo records two pre-code plan and exact-code reviews for each published amendment. Do not reintroduce the already fixed generic cache allowance as a new finding without examining the exact assessment projection.

Correct the hosted containment statement. It contradicts the plan.

Line 88 says that genuine hosted native execution "still fails on missing containment." The plan says something different (plan lines 330-333):

  • The missing-containment refusal is a local container limitation only.
  • Hosted cycles use the unchanged full-descendant supervisor.
  • Hosted cycles treat missing containment as fatal.

As written, a reader can conclude that hosted runs cannot pass. Reword the sentence to state the guard, not an outcome.

Escape the || in the table cell.

In GitHub-flavored Markdown, an unescaped | inside a code span still splits a table cell. The row at Line 28 contains role != "assistant" || !hasCalls. The renderer therefore produces 5 cells for a 3-column table. The proposed correction text is truncated, and markdownlint reports MD056.

Escape each pipe in the code span.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Restrict systemInstruction to text-only parts.

systemInstruction passes through geminiProjectContents. That function now accepts a model-role functionCall part with the exact thoughtSignature. A systemInstruction of {"role":"model","parts":[{"functionCall":…,"thoughtSignature":"skip_thought_signature_validator"}]} therefore passes validation. The parts returned from this call are discarded, so the calls != 1 check does not catch it.

The earlier review comment on this PR and the thought-signature plan both say the exception must not reach systemInstruction. TestGeminiProjectNativeCallPartRequiresMeasuredSignatureAndWireIdentity calls geminiProjectContents directly. No test covers systemInstruction or the countTokens consumer.

Keep the captured fixtures valid. The recorded systemInstruction has only text parts. Reject any non-text part there, and add an inert control for a systemInstruction that carries a call part.

Tie each state proof's scope and removed flag to its stage label.

proofs() takes selected from row["value"]["scope"] and does not compare it with row["stage"]. state_proof() accepts removed as any bool and does not know the stage.

This allows two contradictions:

  • A remove-a or repeat-remove-a proof with removed: false passes. The validator then accepts a removal stage whose state still shows an installed binding.
  • An add-b proof whose value has scope: "a" passes as a scope-a state.

The complete-capture check at Line 186 of scripts/project_native_gemini_cycle.py only checks len(proof_rows) != 18. It does not catch either contradiction.

Derive the expected scope and removed value from the stage label, and refuse any mismatch.
