Purpose

Add project-scoped installation for the VS Code client after verifying its actual native project behavior. This is the fourteenth client-specific stacked PR for project feature #472.

Current checkpoint

This initial checkpoint preserves the recovery research plan. It does not yet claim a completed adapter or native qualification. The collector targets the pinned official stable VS Code release 1.143.1, with an isolated disposable profile/workspace and bounded, hashed evidence capture.

Scope and gates

  • Project scope only; existing user/legacy VS Code behavior remains under the established scope boundary.
  • Research and implementation plans require two independent review/fix rounds before implementation.
  • Native project discovery, isolation, ownership, updates, repair, and removal must be demonstrated before adapter qualification.
  • Fresh synthetic fixtures only; no real workspace trust, credentials, or model tasks.
  • Code reviews and public CLI lifecycle checks are required before merging into the project feature branch.

Stack

Temporary base: internal project assembly snapshot. After review and fixes, retarget and merge only into feat/project-install-e2e (#472). No merge to main or release is requested.

Delivered in #499

Delivered by #499, merged into main as 3b93148c. The integrated source 3386c72a91e7e9b3574f12ce0613b399227a1ada passed all 74 check runs and 24 PR workflows; the actual merge tree is identical to that validated source.

This PR's reviewed head 533639458829e65f65dc687a5d29a9d038da60c0 is preserved by ancestry in the integrated source and the main merge. Closing as incorporated; no separate merge into the earlier stacked base is needed.
