How to manage multiple sessions

Once I start vmux new I get prompted and my neovim is open (so far so good), but as soon as I quit nvim I get the error shown below:

Error: Could not shutdown writing on the stream

Caused by:
    Socket is not connected (os error 57)

But I have a doubt, when I select the "Detach" option (or click ctrl+g), it doesn't appear as a session on the next run, maybe it's a misunderstanding from the workflow by me

no, that's a bug, looks like diss unix domain socket is not found, maybe there's an issue with temporary path or access rights for it.

could you cargo install diss
and then create a new diss session diss -a blah nvim , and try and detach with ^G and reatach with diss -a blah nvim

here I'm using nvim, but could be any program like vim or even less (with diss -a blah less /path/to/some/file.txt instead)

does the issue also happen ?

To check where diss create the socket, could you please create test.rs

use std::env;

=> on my system it returns Temporary directory: /tmp, so diss saves sockets on /tmp/yazgoo.diss

Could you look for such a directory (it should be <YOUR_TEMPORARY_DIRECTORY>/cherryramatis.diss ?),

Do you have full write access on this directory ? does it even exist ?

could you re run diss -a blah2 nvim, and try and detach with ^G and reatach with diss -a blah2 nvim

and in parellel monitor your directory evolution while doing create / detach / attach

ls -l <YOUR_TEMPORARY_DIRECTORY>/cherryramatis.diss

on my system I have

$ ls -ltr /tmp/yazgoo.diss
srwxr-xr-x 1 yazgoo yazgoo 0 18 janv. 05:07 blah

and the file is still here when detaching, and disappear when leaving program (:q for nvim, q for less).

If that doesn't give more info I'll try to add logging to diss to help with this (either that or I should find a way to run vmux/diss on a similar config).

When I run diss -a blah less ~/.bashrc I can ctrl+g to quit and reattach with diss -a blah pretty easily without the bug (as shown below)

For me, it's the same behavior with the temp directory, It creates a file representing my session name and the file disappear when I quit neovim
